Question about Califone International 2455AV Performer+ Cassette/CD Boombox

1 Answer

CD player intermittently will not read track when I skip to another track

Initially the CD player operates properly. With the remote control I can select a track and it will play. After 10 to 15 minutes of playing, when I pause the CD and select another track, it acts like it cannot find/select the track. Sometimes after about 5 seconds, it plays the selected track, other times the CD just spins. I cleaned the laser eye with a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and also used a Scotch CD laser lens cleaner. I use the balance control for this player a lot and really need it. Any help would be appreciated.

This might not be a problem with your CD player but with your CD. To check this, if it's easy for you, make a copy of your CD and try it. If the problem is fixed then it was a problem with your CD. If it's not fixed then the problem is with your CD player. Maybe the CD lens needs to be changed or be calibrated by a service technician.

CD player works but start delays from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. What could cause that?

Dust inside the cd player could be causing problems.
You need to try playing a cleaning cd and follow the instructions that come with it. You can also spray compressed air to clean out the cd portion of the stereo. You can also try unplugging the unit for 20 minutes and then plug it back in. Make sure your cds are clean and not too scratched up. If the unit is under a year old it may still be under warranty. If this does not resolve the issue you may have to have the unit professionally repaired. If the unit is not worth repairing you may need to buy another unit.

The player will read dvd but will not play cd

Richard: This is what said: "
  • Turn on the DVD player. It generally takes a few seconds to get going. Take out the DVD if there's one in the drive already.
  • 2 Make sure the disc isn't scratched or dirty. Use a soft rag to clean the disc if you see any smudges. Insert the CD into the DVD player's disc drive and close it.
  • 3 Press the "Play" button on the DVD player or remote control. Some DVD players will begin reading the disc automatically. Pushing the button works just as well.
  • 4 Use the "Scene Selection" buttons on your remote to select a track. Some DVD players have odd ways of ordering the buttons on the remote. You might have to play around a bit before you find all the right buttons to work the CD playing function of your machine.
  • 5 Crank it up and enjoy your music. The DVD player will act just like a CD player and play the tracks of the CD through the TV.

Cd not able to play last few tracks knocking sounds

CD Mechanism is possibly faulty. Sometimes won't track the outside of the disc properly. Try other CD's of about the same playing time, if more than 1 disc does it, the fault is usually the mechanism. (If the disc is a lot longer than the standard max CD length 0f 74 minutes, some players may have a problem with them. This was usually with older generation players, so may not be applicable here.)

I am using this to play my newborns nursery CDs and was wondering if there is a repeat function. I don't want his cd to stop after the last song, and can't seem to find that function. I do not know if I am...

    Repeat play (Remote control only)
Press [FM MODE/REPEAT] on the remote
    control before or during play.
The player will play all the tracks or all the
programmed tracks repeatedly. " " appears
    on the display.
To cancel repeat play, press [FM MODE/
    REPEAT] again. " " disappears.

OMT Jukebox plays tracks continuously but will play selected track when ordered. Have turned off continous play button but it continues to play. Have programmed it not to play but it continues to play.

Perhaps someone has programmed the machine for "Play stimulator" (random play) or background music. The easiest way clear all f is to default the machine to factory settings. First, unplug the memory plug (red wire at bottom right side of selection and computer and turn off power to the machine for 10 minutes with the memory plug unplugged. After turning on power, the carousel will rotate to determine its capacity. After that the machine is ready for operation. Re-connect the memory plug. If you need further help you can contact me,

No Problem...I just don't know where to click to change track on CD

Turn the EASY JOG/ENTER key until the required track number appears on the display
Enter the required track number using the numerical keys on the remote control. For 2-digit track numbers, press the keys in rapid succession.
In either case play will skip to the beginning of the selected track.

    Player stuck in scan mode

Unplug it from the wall...give it a couple minutes. Try playing a CD again (using manual controls) If that works , your remote might be the issue.

If you bought the thing new you paid good $$ for it.

It's worth having it looked at by a Pro.
