Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S2000 46 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Sony Bravia 37W5810. Fist had very loud sound and no picture and no control of sound (or anything) with TV buttons or remote. Removed TCon, Inverter and main board. Inverter board fuses checked and ok. Main board cleaned with pcb cleaner as "crud" seen but no componenets looked damaged. All boards back in TV now no sound, no picture but back light is on. Can turn TV in to standby and on via remote (front light red then green) but back lights never turn off unless remove plug. Think main board is faulty but need confirmation. Cheers

SOURCE: sony bravia kdl-42v4100 no picture no sound

Hi,

Sounds like there is a short on the power board or the power board has gone faulty.

Look on the power board to see if any of the capacitors are bulged or if there are any other components burnt out. The TV is going into protect mode because of an over current, which points to a short on the board or a component has gone short circuit.
Thanks

Information from Sony:
TCON Error 5X
Communications have been lost between the video processor on the FB3 board and the TCON (TFT Control) board which is part of the LCD panel. This can be caused by a defective FB3 board, a defective LVDS cable, or a TCON failure.

Try pressing the TV/Video button. The problem could be that the TV is set to an input with no source.
