It sounds like you have to much throttle pressure. If your trans. is electronically controlled it could be the speed sensor, if not then check the throttle cable adjustment.
most auto trans don't shift into reverse when low. Reverse takes the most fluid of all the gears. Check for a bad shift solenoid or wires to and from that circuit. Most trans-axles have them now.
check transmission fluid level- run/drive for about 10 min. , park car- check with engine running- add fluid if needed- ,if fluid NOT low- transmission filter needs to be changed
i would check the transaxle fluid first, if it is fine, I would then take it and change the fluid and filter. if this does not correct it, quite possibly the transaxle is faulty, sorry, I hope that the fluid corrects it for you, thanks
sorry to say trans is fried.
Consider a used trans from the bone yard
or a rebuilt one.
