I would run a registry cleaner programme as that does not sound like a valid error.

Cardbus NIC is failed

If you are saying your NIC is bad then you will have to have it repaired.

You could use an alternative method of getting a nic instead of repairing. You could use a device that plugs into your usb port that gives you a nic connection. You could also use a device that plugs into the pcmcia slot that gives you a nic connection.

Try Tiger Direct for purchasing alternatives for under $20

My computer keeps trying to boot from another source

You would have to go into your BIOS by hitting the F2 key as it is turning on. Then go in, and under Advance settings, make sure that the only place that it boots from is the Hard Drive. Make that the primary.

If it still has an error coming up, then it might be a file system issue with the OS.

Who to uninstall and reinstall the nic card driver

I believe your question is how to uninstall and reinstall the nic.
Go to control panel->system->hardware->device manager
alternatively type devmgmt.msc in the run dialog box
click on the plus sign infront of network adaptors right click on the network card present click on uninstall. You will get a warning that you are about to uninstall this device from your system, select OK and once that device is gone restart the system go to the action tab on the top in device manager and select scan for hard ware changes the network card would be reinstalled automatically.

Doesn't install properly on Thinkpad 760XL running WIN98 SE

Make sure you have all the drivers handy.
Uninstall the sound
Uninstall the modem
Uninstall the nic drivers as well as the wirelss nic drivers.
Uninstall all others that have conflicts.
Remove the adapters out of the pcmcia slots. (Ethernet, etc
Shut down and restart the system.
The system should detect all hardware again.
Now if this laptop has an onboard nic and modem disabled them
Shut down and restart system.
Check control panel to make sure they are diabled.
Now istall the combo card nic/modem.
If this does not work you should try diabling them in the bios.
As for the wireless nic. You normally would have to install the software prior to inserting the adapter.

Let me know what happens
Hope this helps you

Dwl-g650 wirless card

you have the driver instaled for the card, but is the cardbus controller installed, go to device manager and look at pcmcia line and see if controller is there, or whether there is an exclamation mark on other unknown devices. You will need to go to the compaq site and identify the driver for the pcmcia controller
