Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer

Cement counterweight broken

I have a whirlpool duet tumblefresh 4.0. The rear cement counter weights broke and must have been hitting some wires that caused the machine to malfunction. The cement broke in half and 2 of the 3 screws where riped out of the plastic molding. How can I reattach another cement counter weight when the area of attachment is kind of roughed up and I don't think the screws would hold even if I could get them in.

Difficult to do much there. you could try gluing something to the bowl, but it is very unlikely to hold for many cycles. you can buy new outer bowl / frames from the manufacturer.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet GHW9400PWO: Replacement of the rear counter weight

This is a simple repair. All that should be required is to remove the back panel to access the counterweight. I've performed this repair on several occasions. Loosen the bolts that sandwich the weight between the mounting plates and the whole weight should slide out of its mounted position on the back of the tub. Insert the new weight by sliding it in place and then re-installing the mounting plates and bolts. Tighten until snug. Do NOT overtighten as you may crack the weight. I hope this helps you.

I may have overloaded my Frigidaire Pin #134465400 0410 front loading washing machine. On the last load it did not complete the spin cycle and there is water laying in the bottom of the drum. When I try...

Pull the unit out from the wall and unplug it. Remove the back panel and check the counter weight (looks like a cement quarter round cement block), spider pulley and belt. The counter weight is attached to the top of the drum and can loosen and fall to the bottom damaging the spider pulley. If the counter weight is firmly attached to the top of the washer drum and the belt is attached to the spider pulley and motor, remove the top cover and lower front panel.
With any luck the counter weight knocked the belt off. If you are unlucky the counter weight broke the spider pulley.
Here is a link for parts.

I hope you only need to bolt the counter weight back on and no other damage to the machine is found, you should get bake to business in about 40 minutes.

VERY loud noises might indicate a loose counter weight. Open the cabinet then raise the top and check the condition of the counterweights and that they are fastened down properly. The front lower counterweight is held on at the ends by two lugs connected by a formed rebar rod and a spaced bolt in the middle of it. Check these first. Loose you can fix. If the rebar breaks, the counterweight will beat the inside of the machine up pretty good, usually damaging the water pump strainer housing. If this doesn't solve your problem, look at some of the other posts here for other ideas. They're really good.

Whirlpool duet Gray ceramic seal broke.

If you are talking about the counterweights, they can be ordered on line at appliancepartspros.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Tub and Basket Parts" heading for items 9 and 15. Now depending on which counterweight broke (they are located on the back and front of the tub), the procedures to replace differ slightly. Can you place post back and let me know if it is the front or the back counterweight that is broken? If I am incorrect about the part you are describing, please elaborate a bit more and let me know which part it is.

My washing machine shakes so much when spinning that it comes out of it's slot from under the counter. I think the weight in the machine has fallen as there is cement dust on under the machine
