SOURCE: How do I change the filter in my Ruud Achiever series

I'd look in one of 2 areas.

1. often there is a central return in the house. This is the place where the air gets pulled back to the unit and is likely very close to your thermostat. Check for a filtered louvered grill there and see if your filter is located here. If so, you can access the filter by opening the filter frame with a screwdriver or even a coin.

2. Otherwise I would expect that your filter is on the return-air side of your air handler (where the blower is) Older models have the filter actually inside the air handler in the blower compartment. Newer models may have a small separate filter door. I'd look in these areas.

hope this helps

SOURCE: RUUD UBHC-17J14SFA HEATING PROBLEM

you may have airflow issues, verify the inlet and outlet temps with the unit running on start up, if the unit exceeds the "rise" allowable then the safety devices "overtemp" will take the firing circuit off line until it cools down. The acceptable mfg. rise is listed on the nameplate inside the burner chamber, (generally on the side wall)

SOURCE: Air Conditioner (RUUD model: UBHC-14J06NFD) is

1) you probably have a clogged drain line and
2) your air handler coil may be dirt.

Solutions:
1) Using a dry/wet vacuum cleaner, attach it to the drain line outside and **** all the gunk out of a drain line; or using a water hose, attach it to from inside right by the air handler and push the gunk out with the force of water - be careful using this method. Or simply pour draino into the air handler pan, wait for 10 minutes and using a cup pour water in the pan to see if it drains fine.

2) if the coil is dirt and it ices up, call a technician to for coil cleaning.

SOURCE: My system uses a permenant

The Ruud UBHC-21J18SHG has a nominally 21" cabinet width. So the needed filter is 19.75" x 21" x 0.375" (502 mm x 533 mm x 9.525 mm). The Ruud part number for the filter is 54-23217-03 .

The specifications sheet for the Ruud UBHC series air handlers is available here: http://www.coburns.com/images/PDFs/h22-517rev1.pdf . The filter size information is on page 3 and page 12.

I've found the filter at one online vendor: http://www.patriot-supply.com/products/showitem.cfm/RHEEM_68_101807_03 . (This is a common filter that fits several manufacturer's air handlers.)

I hope this helps.

Where is the filter in ruud model UBHC-21J11NFC

It depends upon configuration- or how it was installed.

In general terms, wherever the air from the structure is being drawn into the cabinet for air recirculation/intake- the filter will be in the vicinity of the ducting connecting to the Ruud heat pump/AC.. It will be before the "A coil" assembly (the copper tubbing with fins roughly the shape of an "A".

This assumes it was installed correctly. If not, the A Coil will collect a thick layer of dust on the side facing the incoming air flow.

The relevent Ruud documentation is here:
http://www.ruudac.org.ua/ubhc02.pdf

If there is any doubt about the integrity of the installation, contact an HVAC contractor familiar with your area to inspect and make corrections if needed.

Where is the drain pipe on my a/c? Ruud #UBHC-21J11SFC. Do I have to take something apart? The pan under unit fills up and overflows. It is leaking through the ceiling under the unit. I am a woman. ...

The drain or drain piping (usually PVC piping) is under or on the edge of the drain pan, under the unit. It has to exit outside some where. Either down thru the wall into the crawl space and out thru the foundation wall. Or thru the attic to a gutter outside on the edge of the soffett. Look for white PVC piping outside the house where I indicated. Then you can use a garden hose and high pressure to unclog it from at it's termination point, by back flushing it.

Hope this helps you. Please let me know. Thanks
