Remove internal battery for a couple of minutes and then replace to reset bios. You can also check settings by pressing f2 , or f4 i think, depending on your system, at boot up. Also maybe check all internal connections are secure with power off.

Have you tried connecting it a different computer? Does it work with the other computer? If not, then it's not the driver.

The computer does not recognise the hard disk whenever coonected. however other devices are recognised.

Sometimes it is under my computer. check there first. If it does not show up there. some times a simple computer restart should do the trick.
Hope this helps.

Computer not recognising hard drive. I have even looked in disk management and it's not recognised there either. The hard drive is lighting up when connected so it is working.

HI sineadkirk1

There are several reasons why your hard disk can not be recognised by the computer

1> usb cable problem
2> usb port problem
3> the problem on a computer virus or hard disk
4> computer problem
5> hard disk problem

do the test one by one to ensure that the root cause

Harddrive does not start up...computer recognises

Try Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management.

Check there to see if the drive is listed, "online" and has a "Healthy" Partition.
