Lacie Mobile Drive stopped working

My Lacie Mobile Drive stopped working today. It doesn't show up on my laptop or PC when I plug it in, like it used to. All I can think of is that I dropped it about an inch or two, but it hardly even had much impact, so I didn't think it should have been affected. Any idea what the problem might be/what it would cost to repair this so I can retrieve my files? Thanks for your help!

Re: Lacie Mobile Drive stopped working

The smallest impact can be tremendous. Take the drive and your computer into a quiet environment. After connecting the drived, out it to your ear. What do you hear? Does it vibrate slightly confimring that it has spun up and is mechanically functioning?

Re: Lacie Mobile Drive stopped working

I messed up! I found my computer loaded with Viruses. So a friend gave me a Wipe out program, and I failed to dissconnect my Externel 100GB LaCie MOBILE DRIVE USB2.0.
My question is, could I recover my data.

Re: Lacie Mobile Drive stopped working

My drive was running ok but didn't show up on the computer. Sent it for warranty repairs. Very good door to door service, the only thing I needed was to print some forms, call a phone number, give it to the pick-up guy and wait for a week when my Lacie returned home again, as good as new.

Power Light comes on, no function what so ever

Check to make sure that the FireWire or USB cables are
correctly attached and firmly seated in both the drive and
computer's FireWire or USB ports. Disconnect them, wait 30
seconds, and reconnect them. If the drive is still not
recognized, restart your computer and try again. If they are
correctly connected and your drive still does not power on,
trying using the optional power sharing cable, described in
section 2.3 Connecting the Optional Power Supply of the LaCie Mobile Hard Drive User Manual.

My mobile hard drive lacie rugged crashed, doesn't show on laptop or iMac and i need to recover my data stored in it

You may need to send it out to a data recovery lab. Before that try a remote access data recovery service like

They operate an online data recovery service via the internet and also offer do-it-yourself data recovery assistance.

Blue light come on when plugged into laptop but does not show on laptop

this drive is mainly a Network drive. To use it with the USB, if you have a PC, you will need drivers that can be downloaded from LaCie. If you have a MAC, there are no way to use the drive with USB.
If you have a Router at home, connect the drive to it with an Ethernet cable and then use the LaCie Network Assistant to access it. It is easier.

Lacie mobile drive 120 gb

I'd power it on and gently put it against my ear to sense if it's even spinning. If it's spinning, powerdown the computer, disconnect the drive and try it in someone else's computer. Let me know what happens. If it is not spinning, could either be an electronic error within the enclosure or the drive has received a static shock. If it was me, I'd remove the drive from the enclosure and put it into a different enclosure for 2.5" drives. It's only a normal laptop drive inside. I'd be interested in what you find out.
