Question about Roper Kitchen Ranges
I have a gas range that makes loud whooshing sound before it will light. I have replaced the igniter so that is brand new. I turn on the oven and wait sometimes 20 mins or more before it finally lights and that's when there is a loud whoosh sound but never the smell of gas leaking. I have been afraid to use it for almost a year now so I don't know if its a good idea to try and turn it on. Any advice would be great!

You have what we called delay ignition. may be the broiler ignitor too far away from broiler, partially clogged broiler orifice or bad ignitor, I"ll check the Amperage on the ignitor, it should draw above 3 AMPs, if not, then I'll change the ignitor first then check the orifice. Have fun.

The gas is not the problem... the ignitor is...
The gas is building up in there before it ignites because the ignitor is not working properly...
Replace the igniotr and the problem will go away..
