Question about Kenmore 73952 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

I have a gas dryer that smells of gas only when it's running. I checked the flex hose and connections with the soap test and they are not leaking. I checke the vent from the dryer to outside and it is

I would like to repair this myself. I opend the dryer and saw the valve but without running the dryer it's hard to pinpoint if the gas valve is leaking.

My Chrysler LHS 2000 is leaking fuel somewhere. smells inside the car and out of gas when running. Is it a hose?

cud be the tank also or other-get it to a shop that does a leak test-they use a dye then a detector lite--check yourself under car and hood for bad connections--follow any wet areas or try to target a smell

Weber grill replaced hose because of faulty regulator had smelled gas and low cook temp. grill is 4 to 5 yrs old. Connected new hose did soapy water thing no leaks at hose connects. Still smell gas when...

Lisa, when you conducted the soapy water test, how long did you leave the soapy water on each fitting, before you determined there were no leaks? Sometimes, it can take 5 minutes or more for a leak to show up. You should also soap text the tank valve itself.

If no burners were ON when you tested for leaks (and apparently didn't find any), the problem still lies in the Hose/Regulator assembly connections or the tank valve, When you test the tank valve, do it after the valve has been opened very, very slowly (Slow motion, slow).

Hope this helped you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem

Is it normal to get a faint gas smell when you hook up you'r gas dryer?

Absolutely. Your dryer runs on gas, and the gas kicks on when the heating element engages. It should be so faint though. If you smell it continuously then check your connections with soapy water, if their is a leak then shut off the gas and try using soap pipe dope, or teflon tape on the threads, then recheck. My guess is its the regulator near the heating element. Good luck

I have the dryer connected to the gas line I can smell the gas there is no glow or heat

If the connection to the back of the dryer is sealed and tested with a mix of water and soap the gas smell is coming from the injector area direceting the gas to the spark sensor. Upon starting the dryer the spark sensor makes a clicking sound that ignites the burner. If no heard the spark ignitor is at fault

Smelled mild gas odor after moving dryer. Replaced gas line connection. Still smell gas. Tried to tighten gas line have strong gas odor after running dryer. Does not seem to be heating

The gas valve should not be opening unless the glow igniter glows and sends a signal to the gas valve. I suspect a small leak in either the gas pipe or at the gas valve. You will have to get to the gas valve to perform a leak test. While the dryer is open, replace the igniter.

When the dryer in on I smell fumes. The flex hose was removed and there is nothing in it. The fumes do not smell like gas fumes such as from a gas leak It is an older Kenmore dryer that woeks fine.

Did you recently do some painting or varnishing in the house? These and home perms will mix with the burner and leave an awful smell behind.

It might have more than 1 thermal sensor, if you can find a manuel and check. Also if you have a leak on your gas connection(flex hose, ect.)
