Are all gm bolt patterns for V8 trans the same?


It all depends on what you are working on, but for the most part yes. From the 50's to the 90's any Chevy trans would bolt up to any Chevy engine. The difference being Buick, Pontiac, Olds.....known as B.P.O. has a different bolt pattern. Some transmissions are actually dual pattern and will bolt up to either.

A bolt pattern or lug pattern is the diameter of a circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs. Bolt patterns can be 4, 5, 6, or 8 lug holes. A bolt pattern of 4x100 would indicate a 4 lug pattern on a circle with a diameter of 100 mm. The bolt pattern is comprised of two numbers, the first indicates how many bolt holes are on the wheel, and the second describes how far apart they are. A bolt pattern of 5-115mm would mean the wheel has five bolt holes and they are 115mm apart (measured across the center of the wheel).

Offset

The lists of bolt patterns to the right includes OS (offset) information in the last two columns. The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.
The bolt patterns are marked as either H, M, or L
H = High positive offset - FWD Typically +45, 40, 35 offset
M = Medium offset - RWD Typically +20 offset
L = Low offset - RWD Typically 0 offset

Dual bolt patterns


More often called "dual drilled", some manufacturers (usually cheaper ones) are building their wheels with two bolt patterns. This expands the number of fitments the wheel applies to. For example, a wheel with a 4-100/114.3 bolt pattern has 8 lug holes and will fit both 4-100mm and 4-114.3mm fitments. Without close examination, certain wheels can be mistaken for dual bolt pattern wheels, as some manufacturers will sometimes add a second set of holes only for aesthetics and weight savigs. The holes are often straight through and have no mating surface for the wheel lug nuts.

Centerbore

Centerbore relates to the center hole in the wheel that centers the wheel on the hub of the car. Since most wheels are mass produced, they have a large center bore to accommodate several different vehicles. If this is the case, it is recommended that a hub ring is used. Hub rings are hard plastic or metal ring that fits between the wheel and the vehicle. This centers the wheel perfectly on the hub ensuring that there is no run out when the wheel is installed on to the vehicle. Without hub rings it is possible to get vibrations even if the wheel / tire assembly is perfectly balanced.

No, because the Bolt Pattern is: 5-115 mm
5-4.53 inches
Stock Tires 225/50R17 = 25.9x8.9R17

235/45R18 = 26.3x9.3R18

Would you happen to know the bolt tightening pattern for the cylinder head bolts on a revtech 110 Thx Walker

Have an 1988 chevy camaro, added 22 inch rims and tires, want to go back with steel rims and tires,bought 15 inch rims and tires today,no fit, bolt pattern wrong, do i need 14 inch stock rims? and tires?...


no they gave you wrong bolt pattern . dont matter 13,14,15,16 long as bolt pattern rigth . measure bolt pattern .on 5 lug measure from one stud to the one across from it . maybe 5 inch or 5 1/4 bolt pattern. trucks wheels are differnt than car pattern.

I have a 2004 toyota 4x4 pick up, guy wants to sell me 4 chevrolet wheels, both are 6 lug, 16s---are they the same lug pattern--will they work???


often what happens is bolt pattern same like 6 lugs but the the bolts themselves are far apart from each otheri looked up 04 4x4 tocoma bolt pattern is 717x225mm). Big Hub. Bolt pattern: 6x139.7 (6x5.5). Offset: 2 to 22 mm.. it could work the rea test is to try one wheel and see if it fits do front one because of the 4x4 hub in front i would need to know what type chevy?

Really depends on the engine you have.

If you have a 3.3 L engine then the water pump is a 5 bolt pattern

If you have a 3.5 L engine then the water pump is a 3 bolt pattern.

Can I change my brakes to change my bolt pattern?


No
You will need to change the Hubs THEN the brakes to fit the hubs.
But changing the brakes only will NOT change the pattern

The following is verbatum from the mitsu engine overhaul manual... Steps 7 and 8 are a bit cryptic, but it seems like after you tighten the bolts to 20nm in the CORRECT PATTERN... you then go around tightening 1/4 turn through the pattern, then a final 1/4 turn through the pattern... do NOT tighten each bolt to 20, the 1/4 then another 1/4 before going to the next bolt, the idea is to get EVEN tightening across the head, so tighten her three times around the pattern! Now for the verbiage from Mitsu's overhaul manual...


(1) When installing the cylinder head bolts, check that the
shank length of each bolt meets the limit. If the limit is
exceeded, replace the bolt. - Limit: Max. 96.4 mm (3.79 in.)
(2) Install the washers.
(3) Apply engine oil to the bolt threads and washers.
(4) According to the tightening sequence, tighten the bolts to
75 Nm (54 ft.lbs.).
(5) Loosen the bolts completely.
(6) Torque the bolts to 20 Nm (14.5 -ft.lbs.)
(7) Tighten the bolts l/4 turns (90”) more.
(8) Tighten the bolts l/4 turns (90”) additionally.
