Can't seem to select any Auto Focus from the stays "greyed out" no matter what I will manually focus, but auto focus cant be turned on.

If your camcorder is in "EASY" operation, it will not allow you to change certain features in the menu. On the other hand, if your camcorder is in "EASY" operation, it should be autofocusing.

Hope this helps you in some way.

How do I get a canon gl2 to work in skype?

Connect your Canon camcorder to your computer using the firewire cable.

Allow your computer to recognize the device and automatically set the appropriate configurations. If your operating system does not automatically install the drivers for the camcorder, then you must install them manually, using the CD that came with your camcorder.

Open Skype and navigate to the "Preferences" menu under "File" or "Skype" -- depending on which operating system your computer uses.

Select "Video" from the preferences menu and click on the drop-down menu next to "Camera."

Select your Canon camcorder device name from the list of available options in the "Camera" drop-down menu.

Close the preferences menu to save the new camera settings and begin using your Canon camcorder as the video source.

Switch Control unit, having Stop, Play, FF, Rew, Pause and Tele-Wide switch at top of camera is cause of this problem. Its ribbon wire has been damaged / cracked, going to camera board. You need to replace that complete part because ribbon wire is not available individualy.

the camera have a service menu that fixed it

first you must be in 24p mode for this operation

press and holding simultaneous the focus assist button(the one on the camera body)and the menu/status button for at least 5 seconds.

you see and advanced menu where the second line says CAMERA 1.

move the cursor down and push the shutter wheel to enter that menu and now you have a list with the six item being PIXEL COMPEN.

move down and select that item, the word CANCEL blinks.

change it to EXECUTE and push again. it takes about 10 seconds or so to perfom the operation and then tells you to power off the camera.
