Question about Pioneer Televison & Video

1 Answer

No video for about 10 minutes after set turned on - has occurred since power outage. I replaced cable box, but the problem persists.

I don't know if the problem is with the TV. Could it be the video cables that connect the TV to the cable box? Other components, such as DVD player work fine - it is only through the cable component that there is a video delay.

SOURCE: "No Signal" when DVD player is hooked up via component video

If you are using the same cables, same input and the cable box works ok. I would look into the settings of the DVD player. Such as is it a progressive playback and is progressive turned on. It is not turned on by default because not all TV's could handle progressive in.

Check the power supply modular cable connection that is by itself in the upper right corner.  On the one my son-in-law has the double yellow jumper wire that connects to this plug in two locations was loose (not properly inserted) in the modular connector and had worked it way out.

SOURCE: Westinghouse LVM-37w1

I have had this problem since about superbowl time. If I powered the set off, waited 15-20 seconds, and then powered on, it would work again for a while. Repeating this drill a number of times would lead to stable operation. We resorted to a course of turning on some XM music from DirecTV when we weren't watching. I tried a technician knowledgeable on this set, and it would have cost $500-800 to repair the set. We learned from different forums that the likely culprit was either the power supply board or the LCD controller. We also picked up the rumor that Westinghouse had quit making replacement part. It would seem that the management of this organization has a death wish. TO THE CHASE: shopjimmy.com is now selling parts from canibalized sets. They have a non-DOA warranty and a good return policy. A power supply from "Jimmy" solved my problem. I have one important hint: To remove the back, take out the obvious screws and the base. Then remove the ~5/8" rods that protrude from the bottom. There is a screw up inside each rod.

You need to think of these ovens as electronic devices. If you get this message after a power outage, it is behaving just like your cable box or internet router when they have functional upset from a power outage. Turn the power off to the oven at the electrical box for 10 minutes then turn it back on. The oven should cycle up and then work. Mine did!

My 6 month old tv went out during a movie we were watching and when i turn it back on all i get is a blank black screen. what do i do? It is a 42" Element

Hi Chris!

Please disconnect all the cables from the TV then reconnect them back after two minutes. Make sure that the power cable from the TV is directly connected to a functional wall outlet. Next, turn ON the TV and reset it to the original factory settings. You may also try connecting a different video source such as cable box, DVD player, Blu-Ray player, Playstation, etc to the TV to check whether the issue persists with all the video sources.

If the issue persists with all the video sources then service may be required.

I have an RCA 50 something inch projection set that is about 10 yrs old. I had a cable outage this morning and now that the cable is back on the cable box says STANDBY. I called the cable company who tells...

I found out the model number is P52820BL and after researching on the internet further I found this set has a problem with power outages. I found a site that told another person with the same problem that it would take about $350 to fix - if it could be fixed - and there is no guarantee it would work for long after. Therefore, we decided not to bother fixing it. We are getting a new one.

No power

I have two of these where I work and have seen this problem occur after power outages. I've been able to resolve it by unplugging the power and usb cable and letting it sit for 10-15 minutes . Plug everything back up and it works again (until the next power outage)
