You did not say whether the laptop boots up or is dead.

Check the following:

1. Defective Battery will cause laptops to not power up

2. Defective AC power adapter

3. Try vacuuming the open grills on the laptop to suck out any debris clogging the fan

These are about the only things you can check as a consumer without opening the device and troubleshooting at the board level.

If none of these work then the laptop needs to see a MBD (mainboard doctor)

SOURCE: my lenovo Y510 ideapad turns on but the screen

The next tim eit is turned on, try shiniing a bright flashlight directly on the screen.

If you can see anything there then the backlight has burned out on the screen, and will need to be replaced.

If you cant see anything, try hooking up an external monitor to the laptop, if you have a desktop the monitor for it will work for the test..

If the external monitor you hook up will work, then you will have to replace the screen..

( or at a minimum the inverter board, or check that the cables are tight that go to the screen)

if your sure the screen is not the problem then unfortunatly your looking at a motherboard issue and this proves sort of costly sometimes i know its a real pain but you can have someone repair it for you or simply buy another motherboard and have it installed im sorry but that is all you can do at this point! i hope this helps!

Welcome to Fixya

THis means that the bootmanager is corrupted. You can still use the computer by pressing the One key recovery button. Look for the button located beside the power button that has a U-turn sign icon. Press that button once whn the computer is turned off. This will restore the computer back to factory defaults. Please take not that this will delete all files and data inside the computer.

Overheating y730

Most laptops overhead because of one of the following problems.
1. The Fan is not working to keep the laptop cool
2. The Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink has either dried up or is too thin to keep it cool.

Do you hear your fan on the laptop running? If not, then the fan needs to be replaced. If your fan is ok, then your problem is with the Thermal Paste. Either one of the problems will require disassembling your laptop to remedy the problem. Get a quote from your local repair shops, then try the guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com They will repair it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS. Most times their quote is the cheapest including the freight.

Welcome to Fixya

The computer has its own recovery software installed inside the harddrive. If you want to resoter the computer back to factory default, all you need to do is to trigger the recovery partition. Turn off the computer then press the One key button sitting beside the power button. This will take you to the recovery partition. Select one key recovery then click restore from initial back up.

Keyboard not working for ideapad s10

Usually this could be resolved by powerdraining your computer. Disconnect the battery and the adapter for two whole minutes then press the pwoer button to completely drain its power off. Try using the AC adapter power only without the battery. if it will not work still then the keyboard needs replacement. Generally a hardware failure
