Question about GE Ovens

1 Answer

I have a GE oven, model JTP14. The oven will not heat up. The temp info stays at 100F. Nothing heats. The top heating element works when I switch on broiler. Can I fix this. Thanks

I have switched the breaker on and off to see if it resets, but no change.

How do I replace the bottom element of my GE oven?

Hundreds of GE ovens, so can't give procedure, but problem is not necessarily the element - could be switch, connection to element, etc. Google GE (model #) lower element not heating.

Have a ge truetemp double oven model jkp27boa2bb. The control panel does not work. Turn the temp knob for lower oven and upper oven lite comes on. Is the control panel bad? Lower oven heats up only

The heating element on the top part off oven might be bad or a fuse that's located on back of oven either on or behind back panel.

My GE oven JTP14 is not heating. Oven temp shows 100F, but elements not heating. The top element works when switched to broil.

It is a good chance the bake heating element is bad. they can look fine and be bad. usually they are very easy to replace. Just make sure the power is off to the oven before attempting to remove the element. There is usually enough lead wire to be able to pull the element out from the front and disconnect the wires. If it has continuity the element is most likely good if not replace the element. If the element has continuity the problem is most likely in the control or wires from the control to the element..

Do I need to remove my wall oven GE model JTP14 to replace the heat sensor part # WB23T10002

Usually you have to either remove the top of the oven or you can remove the back panel to access the sensor. or you can unscrew it from the inside and pull it out enough to unclip the harness and install the new one. if it is connected to the thermostat ( temp switch ) you have to remove the switch and install the new one and route the sensor the way the old one is routed which might involve doing one of the above options and removing the face plate the switch is connected to

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

I have a GE Single Wall electric oven.(JTP25SOH2) The heating elements just stop getting hot. unit is about 4 years old purchased brand new. first the broiler stop getting hot then the baking heating...

First your broiler heating element may have gone bad and now you oven heating element may have gone bad. Using an OHM meter disconnect them and test for their value.Full scale on the meter means it is shorted. No meter movement means that it is open.Eitehr means to obtain a new element(s) and replace it/them.

GE double oven - bottem will not heat, top oven fine

I had a similar problem. Solved mine by resetting the manual reset thermal switch. The switch for the top oven is located behind the control panal which can be removed easily by taking out three screws then lifting up an leaning out. The switch has a red reset button, just push it in till it clicks.

For safety, SWITCH THE BREAKER OFF WHILE YOU DO THIS!!!

The lower oven switch is located behind the vent grill between the two ovens.

GE should be ashamed of hiding this feature-it isn't mentioned in the manual. I discovered it on a schematic hidden behind the control panal.

    Good Luck, DVS1936

Top oven will not heat up

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.
