Yes, it's in your set up. you can turn off the picture details at all times.
or

if you select the left button on the function pad (flower) it will hide the details when you are viewing the picture. but you have to do this each time a new picture is displayed.

Displays file error message when trying to playback still images and video footage

Did you take the card and insert into computer/device to view photos?

Viewing photos can alter the format of the photos thereby preventing your camera from reading them.

I viewed some photos and rotated a few photos and my camera no longer recognizes the format.

good luck

Strange icon on display in playback mode

You can get rid of the icon by first turning off the "Histogram" icon in the display/view menu.

Note: Histogram icon is the one that allows us to view and check the exposure correctness of a picture.

LCD screen flashing

Hi!
This is a feature and not a defect of the K100D. You can turn this off by going to the menu and going into the second tab (playback menu). Once there, go to preview display, where you will have 3 options - off, histogram and brighten areas. Set this to off (your camera is set to brighten areas, that is why the white parts of your photos appear to be blinking).
Hope this helps!

Display overlaying pictures on LCD screen

Hi, the only thing I can see in the manual is on page 52 (below). You can scroll through the information provided using the up & down arrow keys on the multi-selector button. Scrolling though to the basic file info should give a clearer view. Perhaps if you select this option the next time you view it will default to it? I don't have the camera to try! Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
