Romoving fuel tank from hd 1200x

To remove a 2011 XL fuel tank FIRST purge the fuel supply line of high pressure gasoline by removing the left side cover, removing the fuel pump connector from the ECM caddy cover (2), unplugging the fuel pump connector, starting the engine and allowing it to run until it quits and then operating the starter for another 3 seconds, turning the ignition switch to OFF, releasing/disconnecting the fuel tank quick-connect fitting, removing the main fuse, removing the seat and draining the fuel tank, (If inserting a tube into the fuel tank to remove fuel do so only on the right side to avoid damage to the fuel pump assembly on the left side of the tank interior.)THEN remove the vent hose, cable clip securing the fuel pump wiring harness, unplug the unplug the fuel pump connector, remove the bolt thread protective caps, lock nuts, screws and washers from the front and rear of the fuel tank, put a clean soft cloth or towel over the front of the fuel tank protect it from damaging contact with the top fork clamp, lift the rear of the fuel tank up, remove the fuel pump harness from the clip on the frame backbone tube and remove the fuel tank from the bike to a workbench area. Where the fuel pump assembly can be removed if necessary and where the tank can be cleaned if necessary.

To install a 2011 XL fuel tank FIRST install the fuel pump into the fuel tank with a new gasket, THEN place the fuel tank onto the bike over the frame backbone tube ensuring that the front fuel tank brackets go on outboard of the ignition coil bracket, put the washer on the long bolt and insert if from the left side into the front fuel tank bracket, the ignition coil bracket, the frame and the right side fuel tank bracket, put the second washer over the bolt threaded end and start the locknut. THEN put a clean soft cloth or towel over the front of the fuel tank to protect it from damaging contact with the top fork clamp, lift up the rear end of the fuel tank and put the fuel pump wiring harness into its clip on the frame backbone tube ensuring that the harness forms a loop between the clip and the fuel pump module to keep from pinching the harness between the fuel tank and the frame backbone, route the fuel pump wiring harness down along the left side of the H-bracket, secure it with a cable clip, push the clip into its hole in the H-bracket mounting boss, lower the rear of the fuel tank into place, put the washer on the short boltandfrom the right side push it into place through the rear fuel tank bracket and frame, put the second washer over the threaded end of the bolt, and start the locknut onto the bolt threads. And then tighten both the front and rear fuel tank mounting nuts and bolts to 15-20 ft-lbs (20.4-27.1 Nm), install the protective caps over the bolt threaded ends, install the vent hose, connect the fuel tank quick connect fitting and ensure that it is locked into place, fill the tank with fuel, carefully inspect for leaks , install the main fuse, turn the ignition switch ON and verify fuel pump operation, again inspect for fuel leaks, turn the ignition switch OFF, close the side cover and install the seat.

How to change ignition control module

There should be 6 bolts that hold the ignition coils in place. If you remove those bolts, the coils and the module will come out. However, if stalling is your problem, I have seen far more failed crankshaft position sensors than ignition modules (although they are quite common as well)

Ignition Coil - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Detach the 8 or 11-pin harness connector, as applicable, from the coil and module assembly.
  3. Remove the ignition assembly-to-camshaft housing attaching bolts.
  4. Carefully remove the ignition assembly from the engine.
If the spark plug boots present a problem coming off, it may be necessary to use a special removal tool, first twisting and pulling upward on the retainers.
  1. Remove the ignition coil housing-to-cover bolts/screws.
  2. Remove the cover from the coil housing.
  3. Detach the ignition coil harness connectors from the coil pack assembly.
  4. Carefully lift the coil pack out and remove the contacts and seals from the housing.
To install:
  1. Install new coil seals into the coil housing.
  2. Install the coil contacts to the coil housing and retain with petroleum jelly.
  3. Place the coil pack into the housing and connect the harness connectors.
  4. Assemble the cover to the coil housing and install the attaching bolts/screws. Tighten the attaching bolts/screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  5. Install the spark plug boots and retainers on the ignition assembly housing secondary terminals.
If the boots and retainers are not in place on the housing secondary terminals prior to installing the ignition assembly, damage to the ignition system may result.
  1. Position the ignition assembly to the engine while carefully aligning the boots to the spark plug terminals.
  2. Coat the ignition assembly-to-camshaft housing attaching bolts with an approved lubricant and install them into the housing.
  3. Tighten the attaching bolts to 16-19 ft. lbs. (22-26 Nm).
  4. Attach the harness connector to the ignition coil module assembly.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Start the engine and check for proper operation and performance.

Hope this help to solve ypur problem (remember comment and rated this post).

Ignition Coil A,B,C Primary/Secondary malfunction

Remove the Caravan Ignition Coil Step1 Look under the hood for a distributor. The spark plug wiresmag-glass_10x10.gif connect into the distributor cap. If you don't see a distributor, you may have a model with a distributorless ignition system. Step2 Find the ignition coil. On a Dodge Caravan, the ignition coil is at the back of the intake manifold. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent injury while you work. Step3 Determine whether you need to remove the windshield wiper/motor module assembly. This won't be necessary on all models. Step4 Disengage the connector securing the wiring harness connector to the Dodge Caravan ignition coil. Then, disconnect the ignition wire from the ignition coil. Step5 Use a socket set to remove the mounting bolts. There are upper and lower mounting bolts. Separate the ignition coil from the mounting bracket. Install the New Ignition Coil Step1 Insert the new ignition coil. Mount the Dodge Caravan ignition coil to the mounting bracket. Step2 Attach the mounted assembly to the intake manifold. With a Torque wrench, tighten the fasteners securing the ignition coil to the mounting bracket with 96 inch pounds of torque (10 Nm). Step3 Tighten the bolts that secure the intake manifold to the bracket with 115 inch pounds of torque (13 Nm). Step4 Connect the wire harness and any other parts you removed, including the negative battery cable.
