Question about Samsung SCH-i730 Pocket PC

Screen freezing and freaking-out

When I turn on my phone, as soon as I turn on my phone, it freaks out! A bunch of vertical lines appear kind of like a bar code looking thing. If you know what I'm talking about then great because I don't know any other way to explain it. Then after a couple seconds it freezes... If there is a low cost or preferably free way to fix this problem please tell me how. My situation is the phone was bought from eBay, not directly from verizon. I have a monthly plan and insurance on my phone that I have right now (not my samsung phone I just bought) where I pay about 50 dollars to replace it with a bran new one. The problem, I don't think it applies for phone not bought directly from verizon. If you can help me then email me at Thanks!

Re: Screen freezing and freaking-out

I believe that the insurance is covered on any phone that is on your phone line.  That is how it is set up to work.  The only issue you may have with this is they are going to want to know place of and date of original purchase.  I have been told several different things about this and am a little unclear on the covreage as well but I am inclined to say that your phone has been damaged in some way.  If the original phone was purchased through verizon you should still be able to use the insurance.  From what I understand is part of your contract and at the begining of your contract if you signed up and have not canceled it and you have been using your phone on that phone line and are now having problems it should be insured.  I am not 100% positive on this and it seams like there is never a defienate policy as it always is subject to change however that would be the best place to at least start.

that happend to me once, i totally freaked out.... try turning it completely off, remove the sd card, then turn it back on.

once your phone has finished booting up (and all programs have finished loading), put in your SD card.

If that doesn't work you could always hard reset the phone (sometimes that fixes it)

Pantech duo problems

My Phone had the same problem. Atnt said it happens when there is too much data on the phone. You can try soft resetting it which is taking out the battery. There is also hard resetting which takes everything out but I didn't want to do that so I'm not sure how it would be done. I solved my problem by taking out the SD card and turning the phone back on. Then I deleted files in the phone that I don't need. After putting back the SD card I deleted files off of that too. Now it seems to work fine.

good luck

Depending on how old or new (maybe a bad battery from factory), this is the only thing I found related -

My battery loses its charge very quickly
Like all Lithium Ion batteries, the battery in your device will eventually wear out. If you charge your device fully but it loses power after a few hours (or sooner), it may be time to replace the internal battery. Arrange for a repair.

For best results, don't let your battery fully drain before recharging. Lithium Ion batteries last longer if you "top them off" frequently.
