Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer
I have just installed a new yellow ink tank but the printer will now not work. A message "cannot be recognised" comes up against the yellow icon. Any thoughts Thanks
Original Canon ink tanks have a small ID chip installed ,which may not allow the printer to recognise the tank as genuine, if there is the slightest smear on the contacts, such has a finger print.
We believe that the major problem is simply faulty chips, and depending on the comsumer laws in your country, and more importantly the consumers will to make use of their basic rights to expect a manufacturer should replace goods that are not of "Merchantable quality".
In other words that the product should provide the good quality ink, and the ability to print it onto paper, with quality relative to a companies promise in their advertising. Large international companies sell millions of ink tanks, and will continue to ignore consumers that they have sold a useless product to knowing that a large percentage will buy at least another set in the hope that they will get as good result, or will find it to hard to over come obstacles that the vendor will raise to put you off. The recycling industry can provide answers to many of these problem. Chips can be reset with tools developed for this purpose.
If you buy good quality conpatibles, or get refills from reputable refillers, you will have less failures, and will not be ignored if you have problem.

Seems to be a problem only with the yellow cartridge. I'm having the exact same problem. Turing off and on the printer does nothing, nor cleaning the contacts. There really is no solution except to go out and buy another "expensive" yellow cartridge. The contacts are poorly made.

Got the same problem. by turning off and on the printer it solved to problem for awhile but it keeps giving me the same message" Cartrigde cannot be recognised"

See the catrigde is proper make and the no and see it is properly install see also you removed the seal strip also and try to claen the socket of catridge by tissue paper or form the pencil eraser some time the contacs are dusty if still it is not working pls try with changing the yellow catridge. bye

Try replacing another color for the yellow and see if it takes. iT SHOULD NOT take another color in the yellow slot. If you turn printer off & on and it solves the problem for awhile, then u could be having heat problems the is transferred to the metel strips on the print head that is transferred to printer color cartrigde.
