How to use

I guess from the photo it is petrol (gas) powered.
If it is electric, it needs to be plugged in or if battery charged.
Fuel - depends if 2 stroke (oil + gas) or 4 stroke (just gas)

If gas - "prime the engine" - there is likely to be a little brass button you press to get a few drops of fuel into the engine. Then - pull the starter cors or press the starter button if battery starter. Make sure there is a bit of fuel on the throttle before starting, but not flat out!

One you've got power, mow safely!

I took de oil filter out i connected direct tube i start de it didnt start

Check de-compression lever. Motor will not start if de-compression lever is operated. The lever stops the valves from closing. If lever is operated then there will be no compression when motor is pulled over with starter cord or electric starter operated.

Check fuel cut off at injector pump is not operated. This is how motor is normally stopped.

There must be no air in the fuel line, fuel filter, injector jump or injector. Undo the fuel line at the injector and pull starter or operate electric starter. Fuel should spit out. If not, crank some more until fuel comes through.

if there is fuel in the tank, filter not blocked and injector pump working then if not fuel at injector then maybe injector pump faulty.

If fuel at injector line then remove injector, crank motor and look for spray of fuel.

If if you have checked for spray of fuel and motor compression then motor should start.

If it's 20+ years old and has been sitting for any conciderable amount of time, you'll need to at least clean the carb and change the sparkplug. Probably a new air filter too. I would change the oil and use a little engine starter fluid. when things sit for a long time, they tend to gunk-up and foul. Most of the time you can't just expect it to start right up without some maintenance first.

Fuel leaking carb overflow

Hello Brian,
I would visually inspect fuel lines entering/leaving tank that go to the carb. These tend to get brittle and crack. Also, some models have a rubber grommet that the fuel lines pass through entering/leaving the tank, these too get brittle and crack. If that looks good, you may have a stuck needle in carburetor and it will need to be removed and serviced. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy wrenching!

  1. Remove the cotter pin, lockwasher and spring washer from the front axle ends.
  2. Have a helper apply the service brakes and loosen the front axle hub retaining nut.
  3. Raise and support the front of the vehicle on jackstands.
  4. Remove the hub nut, washer and wheel assembly. Drain transaxle fluid.

The speedometer drive pinion must be removed from the transaxle housing before the right side drive axle can be removed. Remove the retaining bolts and lift the pinion with cable connected from the housing.
  1. Remove the clamp bolt that secures the ball joint stud with the steering knuckle.
  2. Separate the ball joint from the knuckle by prying downward against the knuckle connecting point and the control arm. Take care not to damage the rubber boot.
  3. Separate the outer CV-joint (Constant Velocity) splines from the steering knuckle hub by holding the CV housing and pushing the knuckle out and away. If resistance is encountered, use a brass drift and hammer to gently tap the outer hub end of the axle. Do not pry on the outer wear sleeve of the CV-joint.
  4. After the outboard end of the drive axle has been removed from the steering knuckle, support the assembly and pull outward on the inner CV-joint housing to remove the assembly from the transaxle.

WARNING Do not pull on the shaft or the assembly will disconnect. Pull only on the inner CV-joint housing.
  1. Remove the halfshaft from under the vehicle and service as necessary.

To install:
  1. When installing the halfshaft, hold the inner joint assembly by its housing, align and guide the shaft into the transaxle or intermediate shaft assembly.
  2. Lubricate the outer wear sleeve and seal with multi-purpose grease. Push the steering knuckle outward and install the splined outer shaft into the drive hub.
  3. Install the steering knuckle assembly. Tighten the ball joint clamp bolt to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm). Tighten the hub nut (splined shaft nut) to 180 ft. lbs. (250 Nm). Refill the transaxle with the proper lubrication fluid.

If after installing the axle assembly, the inboard boot appears collapsed, vent the boot by inserting a thin round rod between the boot and the shaft. Massage the boot until is expands. Install a new clamp to prevent dirt from entering the boot.

How do you replace the fuel pump on a 1994 Mercury Sable Wagon ?

The fuel tank needs to be removed to replace the pump. Remove fuel from tank. The fuel filler and vent hoses need to be disconnected. The electrical connector needs to be disconnected. Unbolt tank straps(2). Lower tank down. Remove fuel lines from pump. Use a brass drift(to prevent sparks) and hammer to turn retaining ring that holds pump in tank. Install new pump with new "o" ring seal and reassemble in reverse order

Yard-man model 12a-979l401, approx 10 years old, won't start. Changed air filter and spark plug, troubleshooting said to clean fuel line, not sure how to do that and is there a fuel filter that I should...

Some manufactures include an inline fuel filter, most however place the fuel filter inside the fuel tank. You should check you owners manual for it's location.
I realize that you changed the spark plug. However, did you also check to see whether it had spark?
Does the motor fire at all? If it doesn't pop and\or sputter when you pull it over then it may be an electrical issue. You should check to see if it is a fuel delivery issue before you mess around with the fuel line. Try removing the air cleaner and spraying a small amount of starting fluid into the carburetor and pull it over. If it fires up for a second or two then it's probably a fuel issue. You can also clean your plug and replace it. Then remove after you have pulled the mower over 3 or 4 times. Check it for dampness. If it's wet your getting fuel. If not then it's an electrical issue. Either the coil or plug wire.
If your not getting spark then it will not matter how clean you fuel line is or how new your spark plug is.
Also how long has the fuel been sitting in the mower before this became an issue? If it's been in there a while then you may have an issue with your carburetor rather then the fuel line.
You should check these things and if you still have a problem repost with the results of these tests.

I need to change my starter on a 1991 mercury sable

Starter are one of the easier mechanical engine parts to change.

1) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
2) Disconnect the electrical cable running to the solenoid on the starter.
3) Remove the two bolts holding the starter in place.
4) Pull the starter out.

To install another starter, do the above steps in reverse order in reverse.
