SOURCE: Hotpoint CTD00 trips the power

This happened to me.

Your condenser unit on the front bottom left corner may be clogged up and causing water to back up around the fan and heating element behind the rear panel.
Take condenser unit out and give it a good clean removing as much fluff as possible.

If the heating element senses damp on it, then it will trip the electric.
The back panel which is at 45 degree angle on back. I took this off and sure enough there was water in there.
Wipe away all water and use an ever so slightly damp cloth to remove as much dust stuck to the metal as possible.
I used a hair dryer for about ten minutes fanning over the heating element and circular fan. Don't rush this. Take your time to make sure all signs of damp have been removed from heating element before putting the back panel back on.
After carrying out the above my machine worked fine and no longered trip electric.
It is a pain, but to prevent this problem happening I suggest cleaning condenser unit about once a week if you have alot of washing. Empty water panel after every two loads, maximum.

Good luck
Jon

SOURCE: my hotpoint condenser dryer keeps

HI The dryer timer, located in back of the control panel, controls several things: the drying time of the clothes in the drum, the flow of electricity to the heating element, and the flow of power to the timer motor and the drum motor in the dryer cabinet.
Timers are driven by synchronous motors. Although the contact part of the timer can be cleaned and adjusted on some dryers, this is a job for a professional repair person. Timer motor repairs should also be handled by a professional, but you can replace a faulty timer yourself. Here's how to test and replace a dryer timer:

Step 1: To access the timer, remove the front of the control panel. On some dryers, the timer can be removed without removing the panel. In either case, pull the timer knob off the shaft and slip off the pointer. The pointer is usually keyed to the shaft by two flat surfaces to keep the pointer from slipping when it's turned.

Step 2: Test the timer with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Turn the timer to the NORMAL DRY setting and disconnect one of the timer power leads. Some timers may have several wires connected to them: The power leads are usually larger than the other wires, and this size difference can be spotted under close examination. Clip one probe of the meter to each timer terminal. If the meter reads zero, the timer is working. If the needle jumps to a high reading, the timer is faulty and should be replaced. Replace the timer with a new one of the same size and type.

Step 3: To replace the timer, have a helper hold the new timer close to the old one, especially if there are several wires to be changed. Disconnect the old wires one at a time, connecting each corresponding new wire as you work, to make sure the connections are properly made. Or, draw a diagram detailing the proper connections. After all the wires are connected, check the connections again for accuracy.

Rool out switch keeping tripping

assume you mean roll-out switch on a furnace....it is a temperature sensitive safety control intended to limit the temperature in the vestabule or burner area. if it keeps tripping, it's because something is causing the temp to get too high. a dirty filter would be first suspect. it could also be an inoperative blower, a dirty evaporator, or a blocked flue or vent pipe. check all these things out and you will likely find your problem..

Rheem split system condenser high pressure limit/safety needs resetting frequently before it reaches the set temp of 76 degrees faren. what's wrong and what do i need to check?

Is the outdoor fan running? The fan cools the coils and compressor, therefore keeping the high pressure low enough to run. Either the fan is not working or its not spinning fast enough. Check the capacitor, or just replace it.

Blown high limit fusees can be caused by.
  1. Not enough airflow caused by blockage in the exhaust vent pipe.(most common) Check for strong airflow coming out of the back of machine, then check for good airflow at exterior vent. Clean vent if airflow is restricted.
  2. Bad drum seal
  3. Dirty lint screen
  4. Broken blower wheel
  5. Blockage inside the machine.

I am adding some pictures to help with the resetting of the thermostat. It is actually much easier if you pop open the top and remove three screws on the top side of the left panel in addition to the three in the back. That way you get more room to work with.

Hope it helps.

I think you are on the right track with a faulty high limit switch. When i serviced these units we always replaced the operating thermostat and the high limit switch together they came in a kit. The operating thermostat in theory should never let it get hot enough to trip the high limit switch, which is really just a safety backup for the operating thermostat. Get the kit and replace both, and also make sure your exhaust vent going outside has good flow at the outside vent,a restricted vent system will cause similar issues.. Good Luck

I have a dyno glo rmc-fa100dlx forced air heater. It will light and work for a few minutes, up to about 5, then it will stop heating and the fan will keep blowing. any ideas? thanks!

If the unit comes on and runs but then shuts down, that sounds like an indication of a high limit trip.

Most, if not all, furnaces have high limit switches that keep a constant check on the temp inside the furnace or air handler. On most systems, once this high limit switch has been made (got to hot), the limit switch breaks control voltage to the heating device (strips, gas, fuel, etc.etc..). The blower motor continues to run until the high limit has dropped in temp and reset itself.

On some models, the high limit is a manual reset, meaning you need to reset the switch yourself or shut the unit off and then back on to reset it.

Check all filters and replace as necessary. Check the coils and fan blades for dirt build-up and cleanliness. Check motor belt (if applicable). If all these fail to solve the problem, then your issue either lies within the blower motor itself not moving enough air for proper heat transfer. Or the high limit switch itself is failing.

Dryer turns no heat and can smell gas

airflow through the tube keeps the sensors from tripping. low flow, quick cycle. when its all together, does it blow out back strong? is the blower stripped? gas keeps coming out scares me..what do you mean?

No heat runs fine

Look for high temp overload switches/safeties.

Ohm those out. If one is tripped make sure the vent pipe and outlet is clear. A partially clogged vent cause it to overheat and trip safety switches.
Some are auto reset, some are manual reset, and some are one time trip and must be replaced.

Arcoair central heat /air conditioning unit

The blower motor kicks on when there has been a 24 volt control failure.

This usually means that a limit switch has tripped.

Most likely that would be a high temp limit switch or a rollout switch.

First, make sure the filters are clean. and the evap coil is clean. If eaither are dirty/clogged, it will partially block airflow, causing the furnace to overheat, causing the high temp limit to trip.

A rollout switch typically trips for three reasons.
1 flame rollout into the burner compartment due to poor airflow.
2 overheating af teh metal plate the rollout is mounted to, due to dirty, old, rusted components.
3 a bad limit switch.

If your unit has an LED light, count the flashes and it will hepl popint out the problem.
(locate the wiring diagram/flash code list, and correspond the flash count, with the code.)

First, check filters.
