SOURCE: Is it safe/recommended to leave water in an aluminum coffee pot o

Water is the universal solvent but you should be able to set up the pot, if it was unsafe you would not be able to make coffee in it.

Can you put a Greek coffee maker on a glass top new coker

There are essentially two types of Coffee Maker, one where the water is heated by an immersion element (where the water is heated by electricity), and a Boiling Water Coffee maker, where you heat the pot on a stove top element either by gas or electric heat.

(If you hve one of the electric immersion ones, don't do what a famous comedy showed and place the coffee pot on the HOT SURFACE of the cooker.

While the first pot of coffee might get warm, the idea is to heat the water from the inside, then have the coffee brewed by the machine after.

Is there a MODEL or NAME on the BOTTOM of the maker?

Google or search for these things first and get back to this board if that does not help.

If I understand your question (sort of) , are you asking if a Metal pot can be placed on the top of an INDUCTION type cooktop, where the special rings Induce a current of electricity into the bottom of the fry-pan or Stock-type pot to boil water or fry items in oils.

I do not know if there is any special method used in Greece to make coffee. Please provide details, if you were not having a 'glass' cooktop.

After some research, a 'Greek' coffee maker or 'Bricki', is a stainless steel or copper pot used to boil the water and grinds together without any extra filtering.

So, the Original Poster needs to determine what the pot is made from (The type of metal), and the other part is what type of cooker element is underneath the 'glass' part of the stove.

The Test is if you turn on the element, and watch it, does it glow red underneath or not?

If it glows red, then the heating elements are embedded into the glass and the stove functions similar to a regular electric range.

If the 'glass' portion is black and does not glow red without a pot on the top of it, then it is an INDUCTION element, and the Inductor NEEDS a metal pot on top to induce a magnetic field to make the bottom of the pot warm up.

Based on the Size of the Pots shown in pictures, it may be too small to function in your particular cooker. A model of the cooker would help. The label is usually on the door frame to the oven or a logo or name near the contol knobs.

I love my Cuisinart 10 cup coffee maker, but I hate my pot. Every time I pour a cup of coffee the pot leaks. I have tried removing the lid and the pot still leaks. Please help I am getting tired of...

Be careful! The top will soon disconnect from the bottom! I've had the same problem for the last few months. This morning (11/19/10) the top of the pot seperated when I poured a cup of coffee and half a pot of piping hot coffee spilled down my right leg. I'm on hold with their customer service department as I type this. Has anybody else had the same issue?

Regards,
Harry B.

Kenmore Elite coffee maker Model # 100.9101670A Is this model on a recall? How can I get a manual for it? And what is the filter reset button?

I have a manual with mine and as far as "recall" goes on this model, I've not found anything recalling this particular model...<br /> <br /> The most important thing in the manual, that I have found, is how to clean and change the filter. If all else fails unplug the pot for 10-15 seconds; replug it...this resets it...(if it ever acts up, do this; it helps)<br /> <br /> The filter reset button: Your coffeepot should flash a small message stating: "change filter and clean" To do this you first, turn off the pot, remove filter~(the filter is in a long thin black plastic thing and the filter cover simply snaps and pulls apart to expose the charcoil filter; Remove the Filter, then fill the coffee pot with 7 cups of vinegar plus 7 cups cold water; Place a paper type regular coffee filter in the brew basket, or a thin paper towel works well too~(This traps and holds particles that get trapped inside the pot)<br /> <br /> Before brewing; PLEASE NOTE, brew the first pot of vinegar/water mixture only HALF WAY then TURN OFF and let it sit for a good 15 minutes to soften any deposits...<br /> Turn the pot BACK ON and brew the remaining solution. When brew stops turn OFF coffee pot, empty the solution, and discard the paper filter...<br /> <br /> Refill reservoir with cold water and turn ON; you may want to dump this and refill with more cold water to ensure the vinegar taste/smell is gone...<br /> <br /> Now, wash the brew basket and the glass pot...Open the black skiny Water Filter and replace with a new charcoil filter...Put Filter back in pot...fill brew basket with coffee and brew some mighty fine tasting coffee!!! Hope this helps....Good Luck

I put in 12 cups of water and only 4 cups come out with coffee what is wrong with this. It is only one month old

This occurs occasionally if the unit needs cleaning or you are brewing a new pot of coffee immediately after emptying a hot pot of coffee.
Run a cup of vinegar through the coffee maker twice, run at least 2 pots of clean water through to rinse the vinegar out.
This should clear the problem until it needs cleaning. The suggested frequency of cleaning is every 30 pots, but this varies depending upon the type of water you use.

How to use coffee maker

This type of coffee maker is made to keep hot water always ready to make another pot.
Pour water in ( at least 4 cups)then turn it on with the pot installed to catch the water. It takes a few minutes to get it hot . You might hear it heating. I can with mine.OK after the heating sound goes away put some coffee in the filter and in stall the filter. Now, fill the pot again (at least 4 cups) and pour the water in and put the pot ready to catch the coffee. It makes the coffee fast because it already heated the water from the first time you poured it in.When finished with the coffee just turn off the burner only. These types are made to stay on 24 hours a day.
I just turn mine off and let it heat up the water in the morning.

My Survival Guide To The Dreaded Err2 Disaster

An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.

If it does, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle Free Warranty. I would advise you to call Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available to you. Repair is not recommended, as it is not cost effective for the company or the consumer.

Their toll-free telephone number is 1-800-541-6390.
Thank you, have a nice day.
