Question about Apple MacBook Air
Keyboard all mixed up: q is now a and vice versa; ; is now m and vice versa etc Tried changing keyboard preference; SMC restart; shutting down etc don t know where period is Very difficult to type
System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources
Check to see correct keyboard is present in the sidebar to the left.
If you're dealing with multiple keyboard layouts, tick "Show input menu in menu bar" at the bottom of this same preference menu. Then check the input menu in the menu bar to see if correct keyboard is selected.
Let me know if this helps!

Testimonial: "I have done all this and it did not work. I erased the language input (French Canadian), reinstalled it and still did not work. I switch to English Canadian and the keyboard worked but without the required accents for French. I shot down, restarted and re-selected French Canadian and the keys were back to their normal positions. I still fail to understand what created the mixed up in the first place."
