Try this. Power down. Remove the battery. Remove the memory. Replace the memory. Replace the battery.
Try to power back up.
Best of luck...

I not sure what your saying, Is it the laptop thats not working ? Or DVD drive ? If Its the Pc Try and get into you Bios, Are you able to see the Hp Logo when you first turn power on, Or is Absolutely nothing Happening, No screen at all. Try and make sure, may be someone set it down a little harder than normal and may have jarred the Memory Module loose, Or even the Hard Drive it self may have become loose try to remove the Hd screw and remove and reset firmly back into place, If not, Just a little more Information may help us out, Thanks and I hope this works for you. bear001 Oh yeah If you can see the Hp logo, when you see that repeatedly push the F2 key or the Delete Key until your bios opens and try and reset back to Default Settings,

When was the last time a BIOS update was done? See if one is available for this laptop and give it a try. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER WHEN DOING THIS OR YOU CAN RENDER THE LAPTOP INOPERABLE!! If youre not comfortable doing this, have a service technician do it for you. Sounds like the problems really went into overdrive when the new drive was installed.

SOURCE: My HP laptop is not booting
Try tapping on F11 after you turn the laptop on, and see if it will go into the recovery mode. If it does, you are in luck, and can choose how you want to do the recovery.
If it does not, you can order a set of recovery disks from HP for about $15us which includes shipping costs. Or, you can load any retail version operating system, and download/install device drivers from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1839164&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=1839143&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20»
Good luck, and please rate my response.
