Do you have a heat pump and gas furnace setup? Or is it electric and gas setup.

To me it sounds like either configuration issue its electric and gas, but if its heat pump/gas the furnace is defaulting to gas more then likely on the outside air temperature, usually most heat pumps only heat good down to 10 degrees F.

Heat pumps heat more slowly than gas or electric, so using set back thermostat is not recommended. True economy comes from maintaining constant temprature. System has to work to hard to raise the temprature, and eats up savings in efficiency by allowing temp set back.

We have central heat and air....Heat runs off gas. The air works just fine. However, when we click it to heat nothing happens. The pilot is lit.

First thang you need to do is check to see if you are getting 24 volts to the gas valve, since the air works I am betting you are getting 24 volts to it. So that means you next need to see if the solenoid hat the 24 volts goes to has continuity. If it has no reading you need a new gas valve. I am thinking you need a new gas valve.

When I start the car the RPM goes up and down, even if the engine is warm.

Start by checking for vaccume leaks. Most of the time you can hear them under the hood with the moter running. It sounds like a sucking noise. They are rubber hose that can be found at most auto parts stores. They become brittle due to heat and crack open or even just fall of. The reason I point you toward them if your sucking air it will throw the ECM off as it tries to level out the gas air mix>>>

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

sounds like you shorted out the heat anticipator in the tstat. try jumping red to white at the tstat wiring terminal and have a friend stand near the furnace to see if it cranks up immediately. if it does the problem is more than likely in your tstat. be sure to blow out any dust in the workings of your tstat. this is 24 volts and shouldn't hurt you but try not to short it out to the common or other wires.

The gas valve coils are closing the valve or the flame sensor is defective. The coils are the most common problem.
There are 2 on top of the gas valve. Turn off the gas and power. Remove the front panel by opening the top lid and then remove the screws from inside the front panel in the top right and left corners.

Gas LG dryer works fine, but heat wont stay on more than a minute. then if i try to start it again, the heat wont come on at all. if i wait a few hours, then the same things happens again. heat comes on,...

First, check to see if there is strong air flow out the house at the exterior dryer vent. It is very important to have good air flow for gas dryers. Second, if you do have good air flow and you do get ignition but the burner shuts down quickly and won't relight, the most likely cause is the coils on the gas valve. They heat up when current passes through them and can open up electrically. When they cool down, the process can repeat. The coils for LG gas valves are not available as separate parts. You have to order a complete gas valve, but you can then take the coils off the new valve and swap them out onto the original valve so you don't have to change out the entire valve. If you need instructions on how to get at the gas valve, let me know (with your model number).

Remember, check your air flow first !
Please rate this solution once you have completed your repair. Thanks.
