I'm trying to install a Hoover Prestige central vac that I bought from Costco. As soon as I turn the on switch the unit starts. I've checked all the inlet plate wiring and put a meter on the 24 volt circuit -- it is open at the unit. Even if I disconnect the 24 volt wires - it still starts... is the unit faulty?
\thanks for the response... turns out I had two problems - both embarrasing I'm afraid...
1) there was no auto mode on the switch - turns out that the OFF postion was auto.
2) I had an undisovered outlet in the house that was not completely wired - so I had an open circuit.
thanks for responding.

There should be a manual/auto switch. If it is in the manual mode, then it will run all the time. Other then that you probably have a stuck relay. But this will have a years warranty on it, so you should be able to have it serviced under warranty.
