I have a program(taskhost.exe) which I can't close, and is preventing me from logging off, or shut down my PC

Taskhost.exe is part of windows. killing shouldn't affect anything critical. It's function is to run script that need to run at certaint times. low priority stuff. Recomend you run antivirus and anti malware software. also run windows update. those 3 things tend to find the majority of issues. then open your control panel and look through the add programs section and see if anything has been installed that you don't want. Many time programs install other programs that will cause your computer to have issues.

How do I find out what information is written to my system when I visit a website?

In addition to cookies, a website also runs scripts. The scripts usually provide dynamic behavior, that provides a user with an interactive experience. In some cases, these scripts may be malicious, depending on which websites you visit. Adult websites are notorious for infecting computers when visited.

Assuming you are running Internet Explorer 8, you can have it prompt you each time a website attempts to create a cookie. Select "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy", "Advanced". In the window that pops up, select "Override automatic cookie handling" and then ask it to prompt for First party and Third party cookies.

In order to protect yourself from malicious scripts, you can disable scripts. Again, for IE8, go under "Tools", "Internet Options", "Security", "Internet", "Custom Level", and scroll down to "Scripting". There you can set everything to prompt or disable (when the prompt option isn't available".

I've been receiving this error on my pc..."A

First thing is to update flash on your PC. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/activex/?a=false
It could also be a problem caused by a website you are on. You cannot fix that it is a fault on the website.
Your best bet is to select yes when the problem occurs and retry the website.

Internet Explorer script error do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Library not registered

it could be possible that The author of the webpage you are accessing has simply made some sort of programming error and this is typically the most common reason.or that You are possibly running a pop-up killer of some kind which closes the pop-up too quickly which causes the script of the website to fail and thus giving you the error because it didnt complete.
possible You (still) have some sort of spyware or adware infection that tries to launch something such as a popup but causes script errors.
this is the most likely issue in your situation.

Solution:

1. Make sure your Anti-Virus software is up-to-date and then run a full system scan.

2. Try running a scan with other malware detection software. (Malwarebytes )

3. Be sure your are not running Rogue Anti-Virus software ( Security Center, Anti-Virus 2009, and Anti-Virus 2010).

4. Take a look into the Event Viewer to see the path of where the script is coming from. Some more detail may show up in the Event Viewer log)

5. Run windows updates and install any critical/important updates.

hope this helps
