1. look on ebay for battery if anybody would sell one.
2. go to walmart look in the flash drive isle for a sandisk ultra 2 cf card 8gb about 40$ .
3. open the rio and take out the old hard drive and then find a pc to format the cf card with a cf card reader make sure to format with windows 7 in my computer and choose quick format select default allocation size and then hit start.
4. when succesfully formatted put cf drive in rio carbon.
5. then put back plate back on carbon.
6. then look here for rio carbon developers firmware
7. go to bottom of wikipedia page and click 3.04 Download link 1 and download the exe program and then run as administrater load up the firmware and then walla you have a working mp3 player again.

Citroen xsara remote?

I haven't done it but apparently once you replace the battery in the remote you also have to do a 'resync' process (information from forums):

-switch ignition ON
-press and hold lock button for 10 seconds
-switch ignition off
-wait 3 seconds
-synchronisation procedure is complete
-confirm sync. with locking and unlocking the vehicle

RIO Carbon

Here's a guide for you - sorry but i don't have any photos. If you look in the tips and tricks section for this product then I have previously posted a number of things that may help some of you. If not then send me a request and I will try to sort your problem out.

How to disassemble a Rio Carbon:

  • First take off the front plate (you may want to warm it up, not fry it, with a hairdryer to make the removal easier.
  • Then you will see near the bottom there are two holes which if you get a very small screwdriver then you can unclip 2 of the clips holding the back plate on.
  • Then pry your screwdriver between the back of your rio and the rubber and lever the back off slightly (you may want to get a cocktail stick/match stick etc. to keep this open) then on each side you should see two more metal clips holding the back plate on. Lever each of these clips and the back plate should pop off - don't force it or you might break the plastic.
  • Then you will be able to see the hard drive and the battery below it.
How to remove the hard drive:

  • Make sure your player is turned off and not plugged in.
  • Then carefully lift the drive out of its cradle/holder. It will be attached by a ribbon cable to the main circuit board.
  • At the bottom of the hard drive carefully lever the connector off the drive, make sure you do it evenly so as not to bend the pins if you want to be able to use it afterwards.
  • You will then be have a 5GB Microdrive and a Rio carbon shell.
  • You can then connect up your CF card or new Microdrive.
  • If connecting a compact flash card then you may want to put a bit of foam on top of it to stop it rattling in the case because it is slightly thinner than a Microdrive
Hope this helps you not to break your Rio even more when trying to fix it!

How to change battery for Samsung Napster YH-920 MP3

DON'T DO IT! I was SO EXCITED to find this post 2 days after it went up. It addressed exactly the problem I'd been having with my YH-920 (getting maybe 30-40 minutes off a charge). I ordered from the suggested supplier (not cheap at today's exchange rate) and eagerly tore into the project Thanksgiving night. Disassembling the player is as easy as advertised, but the replacement battery simply DOES NOT FIT the machine. advertises it as a replacement for the YH-920, and the package is stickered with the same information, but it's between 1/16th and 1/8th inch too long for the battery bay. Trying to make it work destroyed my MP3 player ("device can't initialize HDD," a message I still get after reinstalling the original battery). Now I'm trying to get a refund. Wish me luck.

Unit will not stay turned on.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

You would literally have to break it open with a screwdriver or wedge, smashing/damaging other components in the process (trust me, I did it).

I read about this place - Immergut Battery Haus Inc. 540 West Main Street New Holland, PA 17557 (717)355-5288 someone got a battery for a rio riot from them for just 20 $. But taking the battery out wasn't so simple, you should call them to consult. Good luck
