Hi, Prism3 refers to wireless local area networking (WLAN) solution that provides an IEEE 802.11b-based WLAN platform. Some of the known firms that produce the chipsets or the wifi card are Conexant, Airvast, Shuttle, Z-Com and ZyXEL among others. Perhaps the best approach would be to determine the laptop brand/model itself and from thereon proceed to the laptop's manufacturer website and download appropriate drivers. Hope this be of some help/idea. Of course this will not hold true if the wifi card is external. Good luck and kind regards.

After reformatting my thinkpad r40 2722, lost drivers for internet connection

Hi,
Following the re-install of your OS it is likely that one or more drivers were not re-installed, in particular the network card. I'm not sure which OS you are using but Windows only includes driver support for the most common devices at the time the installation CD was produced.
You can download drivers for your model at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? You will need to download them using a different machine and then transfer the network driver (using a disc, pen drive etc) to the laptop and follow the installation instructions.
Once you have restored the network driver you should be able to download any other required drivers direct to the machine.
I hope this helps and good luck! If you have more questions - ask away!
Don.

Hi there, On your laptop that can get on the internet, go to www.dell.com/support and download drivers for your Network Card and your Video Card from that site. Make sure you put in the right model number (dimension 2400). Transfer them to a USB key, and move the USB key to your desktop. Install those drivers and everything work will again. You may need to install additional ones as you see other things not working (like audio). If you need more help, let me know. -Alex

I dont know how to connect it to my laptop wireless

  1. Purchase a wireless router that fits your needs and price range.

Follow the router's manual to set up the router and its Internet connection, which will probably require connecting a wired client to the router. Once the wireless router is set up, the wired connection is no longer necessary. However, it's best to leave the wired client connected if it's a separate computer from that on which you're going to set up WiFi. If something goes wrong, you can access the administration interface again.

Gather information from the setup process. In order to set up the wireless client, you will need to know the service set identifier (SSID), the Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key and the channel and mode.

Boot up the laptop and plug in the WiFi card. This will not be necessary if your laptop has an integrated WiFi card.

Install any drivers needed to use the WiFi card. Insert the disc that came with the WiFi card and follow the on-screen installation process. Most discs will trigger a new hardware wizard that makes installation extremely simple.

Double-click on the "WiFi Connection" icon. It can be found in the system tray at the bottom of the laptop screen.

    Click on "Properties."

    Select the "Wireless Networks" tab.

Use the "Add" button at the bottom of the dialog if your WiFi network isn't in the "Available Networks" section.

Click on "Configure" when you see your network's SSID in the "Available Networks."

Enter your network's SSID and WEP key.

Click on "Start," then choose "Connect To" and "Wireless Network Connection." Your computer should now be able to access the WiFi network. If the WiFi network is connected to the Internet, it should also be able to connect to the Internet.

Need Network Controller 4 both Compaq Presario 2100 2500 Laptops

You have to install the WiFi card with an Installer before it is recognized by device manager... go to the link below, and download the WiFi driver and install as Administrator. You will need to know your exact model number to do so.. Do NOT just get a WiFi driver that will NOT work, you must get installer version.

My laptop does not detect my DWL-G630 cardbus card.

I am assuming it is using the PCMCIA slot on the laptop.

Since the OS is reinstalled, there is a high possibily that the drivers for the laptop devices are not fully installed.

click start -> run.
type in compmgmt.msc then ok
click on device manager and check all devices are installed correctly. If there is a yellow question mark or red cross on it then it means the driver is not present or its disabled.

Try to download all drivers for your laptop from HP website and install them.

Will not reconize ethernet cable

Please ensure the following:

1. Make sure you use the LAN port.
2. Ensure the cable is in good condition. Try using new cable.
3. Ensure you installed proper network card driver.
4. Ensure the network card using correct link speed (100Mbps).
5. Try switching the link speed to Auto, if you're not sure.

These are the basics. If possible, try installing the latest firmware for your network card. Normally, downloadable from the manufacture's site.

Regards,
Maha
