Take apart and repair MID7036 power plug

How do I take the cover off a Coby MID7036. I haven't found a relevant Video teardown online. I can release the longer sides easily but what is holding the short sides of the case.

I took it apart! You need only 2 tools, a stiff guitar pick and a phillips (star) screwdriver.
There are 4 clips on each short end of the MID7036 tablet.between the black and grey cover halves. There are 5 clips on the longer edges.
First, remove the external memory chip if you have one.
Then, push the guitar pick into each long edge until the snaps open and you have the middle parts of the long edges separated.
The hardest part are the short edges. You have to force the pick around the corners and to the first snap. Once you are there you will hear a loud noise releasing the first snap. Keep on forcing your pick along the edge until you have released all 4 snaps at each end. Be careful not to push in too far, not more than 1/4 inch (a half cm) so as to not damage anything.
Both halves of the cover (black and grey) should come apart now that you have gone all around and released all the snaps. The circuit and screen are screwed to the black half.

Flip the Screen side face down being careful not put stress on the speaker wires. The speaker is on the grey cover and can be carefully popped out to allow more freedom of movement. Mine popped out without even trying.

With your small (jewellers) Phillips remove the 5 small screws (2 of them have metal tabs) that hold the screen and circuit board to the black half of the cover. Flip the screen and circuit board over carefully to the screen side. You should now have access to the power plug at the short side.
My power plug was not broken, but just spread apart too far. I just had to press down on the small contact to make sure it closed properly when I inserted the plug.
I was able to test that it was charging properly then I reversed the process.
I put the screen face down on the black half of the cover, aligned the screw holes and where needed the small metal tabs and put the screws back in. I use a slight backward turn to find the old threads and then start forward to prevent stripping the plastic screw holes. When everything was safely screwed back I test the plug again. Then I snapped the grey cover back on working all around the edges..
Once again I am ready to go to my next gig. I use the tablet to store my songs and luckily can read the text even with my old eyes. Cheers.

If there is one, it will be on ifixit.com You will most likely need several plastic pry bars and possibly a heat gun.

I HAVE A COBY 7inch. TABLET I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRENTY. I CANNOT FIND MY PAPERWORK HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY WARENTY IS STILL EFFECTIVE?

If you had purchased extended warranty your seller would have registered this with the company which provided the warranty. If you can go to the place where you purchased the unit with the details you have provided, then they should be able to search. If your unit is faulty right now then best to take it to your local Colby repairer and they should be able to find out the details of your extended warranty.

Most likely a failed battery not holding a charge, if so, repair locations can be found on the net. Parts can be found on Amazon if you are a technician. There are no user serviceable parts in tablets.

MATSUNICHI m97 WON'T TURNON.

I had this same problem, and found the answer. look on youtube and search for le pan s teardown. The le pan s is the same model. Follow those instructions to take off the back cover and then find the cable that goes to the big black batteries, then carefully disconnect it and leave it off for 30-60 seconds. Reconnect the cable and put the back cover back on. It should turn on now, but if it doesnt, you will probably need to plug in your charger.

My coby MID7012 isn't going to the home screen after I charged it. Its flashing coby over and over. But its not turning on. What do I do?

Sounds like you are in a "Boot Loop". Let's try to break the Boot Loop. Plug the device into the charger, then press and hold the power button for 60 seconds - make sure the device is OFF after the 60 seconds. Let change overnight. Next Day, unplug the device from the charger, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, wait 30 seconds, press and release the power button normally, the device should be out of the Bootloop.

Repair how to manual for power plug inside on a coby mid7036?

Does anyone actually read the questions before giving an answer? These other 3 answers are useless READ THE QUESTION. I have the EXACT same problem as the Original Poster.

There is not a schematic or repair manual available for this model. However, I was able to locate a video walkthrough on youtube for a similar Coby Kyros. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cun9tzfiFQ.

This is difficult to take apart without destroying the plastic - even with the right tools (http://phonebuz.com/images/tool%20case%20opener.jpg). If you use a screwdriver to pry it open, you'll destroy the plastic in the process. There are 4 clips across the top, 4 clips across bottom, and 6 on each side.

On our model you have to pry outward on the grey plastic around the edges, and up on the black plastic bezel that surrounds the screen at the same time to release the side clips. At that point you can work around to the top and bottom with a (preferably plastic) pry tool. Guitar pics work well too.

The DC Jack is surface mount to the Motherboard,so as long as the jack came off cleanly and didn't rip the contacts off the board, it's pretty easy to re-solder it back on.

On mine they tried to glue the jack in place to keep the DC Jack from coming loose, but that jack takes a lot of abuse for how small it is.

No power

I had the same problem! It's not your charger, it's the tablet.

Most likely, the soddering came apart on the inside of the tablet, on the part that connects the charging port with some important wires. You can either take the cover off and fix it, but if it's like mine, it'll just come apart again.
This is what i did: plug in the tablet, and cross the cord from the right across the screen, to the left, and make sure it's tight. I use a binder clip to make sure it stays and charges.

Now try powering it up....that should work :)

Replacing power jack for hp tc4200 tablet - need manual

I do jack replacements. It requieres soldering and completely dissasembling the laptop. Do not attempt unless you know what you are doing and have the proper tools and work setup. If you still want to do it yourself (at your own risk of course) you basicaly need to take the laptop apart, remove the brokem jack (de-solder) and put in the new one. Use maximum of 15Watt soldering iron. You can get all the tools you need at a local radio shack or electronics store. Good Luck.
