Macbook MC240LL/A does the 8x DL superdrive come in both an atapi and sata version?

  • Scott Oberlin Nov 20, 2013

This is a 13" MaBook MC240LL/A with a Matshita UJ-867A optical drive. When I view it in System Profiler it says it has an ATAPI interface, however I can not find a UJ-867A on Google that has an ATAPI interface, only SATA. Do they make a UJ-867A in both interfaces?

You are confusing PATA with ATAPI. ATAPI is a command set protocol used by devices. SATA and PATA are both ATAPI compatible.

According to EveryMac and the serial number you provided (assuming the hard drive has not been replaced in this unit and the original factory shipped Apple drive is still in there):

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.0-white-13-mid-2007-specs.html

Looks like you have a brand-name 80GB SATA 1.5Gbps 5400RPM 2.5" hard drive in there.

If you need to replace the drive, typically any current day 2.5" SATA hard drive or 2.5" SSD will work within the unit.

Hope this helps!

There may be something wrong with your CD drive. I would recommend going to the nearest apple store and having them fix it.
