Re: pb1644

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up (no protect light), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protect), the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Hi, I own a lightning audio B300.4 amplifier, it is hooked to battery and grounded to boot with same. Remote cable from headunit is hooked up. All of these cables are in the right places and nothing else...

sounds like amp is grounded. use a multimeter with ohms and test from pos to neg, should be o.l if there is any reading or resistance there the amp is grounded and junk

2000 watt american legacy amp protection ligh wont go off

Same thing happened to me so I returned it for repair turns out it was an internal 25amp fuse on the output. Got it back an it sounded very weak now it does not play at all. Nothing wrong with my setup as I have now got an 800watt amp that is running great.

Protection light flashes on and i get nothing

Hello shwoop22,

It sounds like power is shorting out or the amp is defective. With the fuse removed, use a multimeter set to ohms and check between the power terminal to ground.

The protection light will normally come on if the amp overheats (for example when running with too low impedance), or if the speakers are shorted.

Hope this helps.

My amp is on but no sound

Did you disconnect the battery? You may have bowwn a fuse, but that prolly wouldnt give you a protect light. Protect light usually means a short circuit, probably on the speaker end, sure there couldnt be maybe a single strand of wire crossing over the positive and negative speaker or amp terminals.

My amp is on but the protection light stay's on!!

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If the protect light remains on, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Lightning audio B300.4 amp protect light

The most likely reason for it to go into protect is shorted output transistors.
