Question about Rainbird Rain Bird 1" Automatic Sprinkler Valve Cpf-100

2 Answers

One station in sprinkler system will not shut off completely.

Does the pressure on the 2 sides of the diaphram equalize through the little white plastic peice in the diaphram? If so does it get clogged up?

The valve should have screw around the top of it unscrew them and it will come apart usually there is a small rock or a piece of calcium in the valve that will stop it from closing completely

Sounds to me like you may have a bad selonoid if your sprinklers are on timers. If not on timers ,you have a bad valve, and it should be replaced.I hope this helps solve your problem

All six zones run but cannot get one of the zones to completely shut off so I get a substantial leak so I turned of the system what should I look for

Hi Michael:
The solenoid for the leaking zone will probably have some debris in it. You could try to dismantle and clean it, otherwise, replace and you should be OK.
Cheerfuls.

How stop sprinklers from starting over

You only program the first zone to turn on at a specific time. The rest of the zones go in sequence.

Zone 1 stays on all the time even while other zones go

Sprinklers and valves can get clogged. First turn off your controller, then remove Zone 1's valve... see if you can determine if it is clogged. Then clear the clog or replace the valve.

Lawn sprinkler does not completely shut off but continues to flow barely noticeable!

Inside the valve is a seat and a rubber disc that closes it off. Chances are there's either debris on the rubber or it has rotted, causing a little bit of water to flow past the opening. There's a diaphragm assembly kit for it for less than ten dollars at your local sprinkler or irrigation store. To replace it you have to shut the water pressure off to the valve, unscrew the screws holding the top to the body, then remove the top and diaphragm assy. Be careful to not lose the spring on the top of the diaphragm. Once it's open and parts removed, it may be necessary to flush the valve. To do that turn the main pressure on for a moment and all the water (and possible debris) will shoot out the top. Be careful as this can be quite a gusher. Think "Old Faithful"

Then, making sure the seat (round opening in the bottom of the valve) is clean and free from debris, place the new diaphragm assembly, with the spring on top, into the body making sure it sits square. Then replace the top, or bonnet, and carefully screw the screws back into the holes. I say carefully because the screws are stainless steel and the body is plastic and will strip easily. Only tighten them snug, then about an eighth of a turn, in a star pattern so as not to warp the bonnet. When you turn the pressure back on you'll see if you did it correctly when there are no leaks. If there are little jets of water shooting from the side then you can gently tighten the corresponding screws.

I just got an Orbit 4 Station Sprinkler Timer with Easy Dial from the landscaper who did my sprinkler system a week ago, he set the timing at 6:30 AM I changed it to 5:45 and SET it and now its running...

You don't program each station. You only program one start time that begins the cycle that consists of the three stations.
Remove all start times but the first one and make that 5:45.
Set the station times to whatever you want, 12 minutes.
At 5:45, station 1 starts.
at 5:57, station 1 shuts off, station 2 starts.
at 6:09, station 2 shuts and station 3 starts.
at 6:21, station 3 shuts.

Model 57882 9 station timer I did set up station 1 where do I begin in order to set up station 3

Question is not clear.
Do you have programming problem with the timer?
Or problem locating sprinkler heads?
Or a sprinkler valve problem?
Add a comment with detailed information.

Sprinkler timer turns ON-and-OFF.
Timer does not advance the sprinkler to next station. The sprinkler valve advances to next station when timer turns OFF.
For example, when timer turns ON, then station 1 starts watering.
Timer turns off, and then sprinkler valve automatically advances to station 2.
Timer turns on again, and station 2 starts watering.

I have 1 and 1/2 horsepower sprinkler pump that wont prime. As soon as the end piece fills, it will empty if I open the end to the sprinkler.

I don't know what is your system set up. However, the system set up should be the following;
1. Your 1-1/2HP sprinkler pump must be installed at
a fix location nearest the water source. (Complete
with power and plumbing lines.)
2. At the end of the suction line is a vertical check
valve with strainer.
3. The suction pipeline must be connected to the
suction port of the pump.
4. At the discharge port, a flow control valve tee must
be installed. The flow control valve tee top is
covered with a plug, which serves as the priming
port when opened.
5. After the flow control valve, connect a short nipple
so that you can put a gate valve to stop the water
flow or allow the water to flow. You may connect
a pressure tank at this point or you may connect
the pressure hose going to the sprinkler.
6. To prime the pump, open the plug at the flow
control top. Fill it full with water, replace the
priming port plug.
7. Turn the flow control valve to full closed position.
8. From full close position, switch the power on.
9. The pump now run on and off due the pressure
switch setting. Slowly open the flow control valve
such that the water pressure remains steady.
10. Take note of the pressure.
11. Shut the power off, and connect the sprinkler
pump hose.
12. Put the power back on, and allow the pump to
run with the sprinkler.

Under this set up, you can run the sprinklers when your pump is running. Hope this will solve problem.
