Question about Televison & Video
Hello, I have a Samsung HL-P5067W (model code: HLP5067WX/XAA) rear-projection TV. I got it for free from a family member, being told that it needs a lamp. I purchased a new lamp and installed it. I reset the lamp hours meter and did the factory reset for the settings. Since installing the lamp, the TV powers up and functions properly, with the exception of several vertical black lines fading in and out across the screen. Other than the lines, the picture has fantastic colors and is very clear and bright. The lines sometimes completely go away for a while. They seem to come and go without reason. Is this the digital board? If so, does anyone know what in particular goes bad on that board? I am an electronic technician and would be able to replace individual components.
Even technicians who are familiar with those units, before installing new lamps, they use a 'calibration unit' for that or any particular model lamp and calibrate them right after installation. If you don't have the proper calibrator and adjust them right after you installed them, you will get that result. Even experience techs come across that problem if the calibration is not done properly. Also, each lamp for a different color value, has its own calibration/sync values.

Here is the procedure for resetting the lamp timer.
This is a quick reference guide to show you how to reset your Samsung DLP TV’s lamp hour meter or hour counter. Resetting the counter is a very simple procedure.
Begin with the TV powered off.
Point your remote towards your TV.
Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.
Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.
Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).
NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can substitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.
To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterwards!).
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Tips for a great answer:
When the lines are showing, check to see if you can see them with the on screen menu being displayed, if you can then it is the DMD board, if you cannot then it is just the digital board.
