SOURCE: Laptop stuck in sleep / hibernate mode??

Try holding the power button down for at least 10 seconds, that should turn off the laptop completely. Then press the power button again to turn it on. Hopefully it will boot up.

SOURCE: not turning back on after sleep mode

I had the same problem when I first bought my Acer Aspire One a few weeks ago. I searched the web for answers, but it didn't really seem like anyone had a solution. However, one guy on a forum or website said something that gave me an idea - he said something like: What's the problem? Just open it up, hit the power button, type your password, and it wakes up.

Well, that didn't seem helpful to me at the time that I read it, but after thinking about it, I had a hunch. I had not set up my netbook to have a password (yet). So I did. And it's been waking up from sleep mode like it should ever since!!!

Hopefully, if you're reading this, setting a password will work for you, too. If you don't know how to set a password, here goes... Start...Control Panel...User Accounts...Change an Account...[Pick your name.account]...then the option to create a password should come up. Let us know if this works for you!

Nv53 reboot issues

over a year with the same windows installed?, first of all and most cheap solution probably, make a backup of all your info (Pics, videos, docs), be sure of having your laptop drivers and format your laptop hdd, depending on your sistem install window 7 or windows xp (Titan ue, will do it for you), then the drivers, antivirus, malware protection and a firewall, if that doesnt work maybe a loose memory, try to run some memory tests to be sure (You can find some software on the net for this purpose), try to remove the hdd from the laptop and check for virus and malware on other machine with a good and actualized antivirus using a sata/ide/usb cable this are cheap and it shouldnt be hard to find one on some electronics or computer shop... if none of this works you should take it to a tecnician. good luck.

I want to paint the outside case and the touch pad, how do I remove these?

You have to completely disassemble the laptop

1) Remove ALL power to the Notebook.

2) Follow Anti-Static Precautions

3) Remove the Display Assembly.
Disassemble the Display Assembly, until you just have the Top Cover in your hand. (Gateway term = LCD Assembly Lid )

2) Remove the Ram Memory, Wireless Card, Harddrive, Optical Drive, Keyboard Cover, Keyboard, Palm Rest, and remove the motherboard.

{ Advise using an ESD wrist strap connected to a good ground source.
Average cost is around $3 to $6.
I connect, for example, to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.

Use a mutli-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.

If no multi-compartment container is available, you can substitute with a clean egg carton. Label each egg holder.

SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
DO NOT mix them up! }

Nv53 gateway laptop will not turn on, power brick is green,it just won't turn on

Please take out the battery then plug in your power strip, press and hold the power until it comes on.

Let me know if this works. What could be happening is the system went to sleep and was not responding to user input, so this would be a way of a hard reset for it. Let me know if it works or not, as the next step is a little invasive.

Delay in Monitor display once the system goes in sleep mode

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.
