Question about Olympus Sp-800uz 14mp With 30x Camera Digital - Olympus

1 Answer

Digital camera SP 800uz, nice camera. However, It has a blue cast to the pictures, nothing to do with the WB function. As I take a high volume of pictures, I want to correct this in the camera, not photoshop the pictures. Thanks.

The manual says the following about colour cast:

  1. Best results in most environments can normally be obtained with the [WB AUTO] setting, but for some subjects, you should try experimenting with different settings. (This is especially true for sunshade under a clear sky, mixed natural and artificial light settings, and so on.)

And although the WB settings are very limited I think this is the only option you have. Make sure you don't use to strong exposure compensation all the time.
The colour compensation you wish, are only found in high end cameras. Not even in all DSLR or system cameras.
If the colour cast is too strong, perhaps the manufacturer can help?

SOURCE: blurry pictures

When operating any digital camera, the camera tries to capture the best focus and exposure for that particular scene. By pressing the shutter button half-way down, the focus and exposure is being set. There will be a green circle on the upper left hand corner of the screen, then your camera is ready to take the picture. Slowly depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the picture.

Also try to reset the camera back to factory defaults as there could be a setting that is causing the images to be blurry. To reset the camera - have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - left arrow to reset and press ok. Highlight yes and press ok. This will reset the camera back to factory settings. See if this clears up the blurry images.

No, you are not wrong. When there are more pixels, the picture must be more clearly and you can zoom it more. Because you have experience with another Olympus camera, I'm inclined to believe that
something is wrong with your new camera. Try to put it on AUTO mode and see the difference. If everything will be ok, it means that you are wrong when you set the manual parameters.

SOURCE: Installed the Olympus sp-800uz to

If you have installed the [ib] software from the camera, this program seems to be very unstable and buggy. I would recommend to use the new Olympus Viewer 2 software instead. De-install the [ib] software and download and install the (free) Olympus Viewer 2 software. It supports the SP-800uz.
See: http://support.olympus-imaging.com/ov2download/index/?Lang=ENU
You need to put in your camera serialnumber to be able to download it.

I bought an Olympus SP -800Uz in Las Vegas U.S.A. Should it have had seperate software in the box, Joan U.K.

No, the Olympus SP-800uz has the PC Software on its internal memory.

The quickstart guide does tell the procedure to follow: Initialize camera
and installing the ib software. If you did format the internal memory of the
camera, the software setup is lost. You can find alternative and better
Olympus software here. The ib software you can find here.

The Olympus SP-800uz digital camera does not come with a CD.

Just got olympus sp-800uz but get 2 black lines down side screen can i make it full screen

Are you talking about the camera's LED screen, or your computer monitor screen?
Anyway, the Olympus SP-800uz camera has 4:3 image sizes and widescreen 16:9.
Just set your camera to the size you need to get your images shown fullscreen.
An alternative is to use a graphic (or tool) program that is able to crop your images.

The white balance is set to something other than "auto WB".

All my photos have a blue tone help

If you're using an E-500, this one should be easy. It sounds like a simple white balance issue. Just turn the camera on and, without going to the menu screen, press the WB button (the up arrow above the OK button). Change the WB setting to "AUTO" and you should be all set.

Canon 20D strong blue cast to pictures

You probably have the White Balance set to a setting other a
than "Auto White Balance" (AWB). On the top of the camera, above the exterior LCD panel, there is the "AF-WB" button. Turn the camera on--past "on" to the bent line. Press the AF-WB button once. On the left side of the exterior LCD panel there is a vertical, reticular box with the symbol of the selected setting for WB. Normally, the setting should be set to AWB. If it is not, turn the command dial at the back of the camera until "AWB" is showing. Try shooting again-the color should be better.

In the "auto" modes (green box, portrait, landscape, etc) the AWB is automatically set. In the "advanced" modes (P,Tv, etc) the WB is manually set for whatever light source you are using. The command dial may have been accidently turned to different setting. Hope this helps.

AWB problem on 555

I noted that situation, but was my fault because i've been using Bulb or tungsten in outdoor pictures...!!! AWB works fine most of the cases except in some indoors where i have to use manual WB. Please be aware that if you have enough indoor light could be a good idea to disable the flash, try and error......
