Question about Zoom X7n Dsl 2/2 Modem/router/gw

Zoom X7n Dsl 2/2 Modem/router/gw dsl light blinks constantly when trying to connect to Earthlink

I recently changed to a different telephone, had Earthlink make it ADSL active but could not get the DSL light to stop blinking - I've done everything Earthlink suggested and what I could find on the Internet but no luck. The line seems fine since the telephones work. I've connected with a filter/splitter and directly to the outlet.

The X7N will go thur a slow blinking process, the a fast blinking process and then go solid. It may do this twice before it goes solid and stays solid. If you are not getting the fast blinking at all, you are not hooking into the server.

Try removing the splitter, if it works then you might have a faulty splitter and you need to get it replaced. You might check if you are using the first phone jack in your house / apartment. I remember that was key when i was on DSL. Hope you get it sorted out, not having a working connection is very annoying.

Testimonial: "Thank you - I did try it with and without the splitter and no difference. I am attaching it to one of the original phone jacks. Should I try one that was added later?"

The first one is usually the first jack closes to the door in an apartment. But just try them all in case some jacks might have been physically rerouted in the house. Good luck!

SOURCE: DSL Flashing

You dont need both. Do the following:
Unplug your speedtouch from the phone line at the back of the speedtouch unit. Plug that cable into your Zoom. Then plug one end of an ethernet cable into router and one end into your PC. Type http://10.0.0.2 into a web browser (eg. Firefox or Internet explorer) username/password is admin/zoomadsl go to basic setup and input your ISP username and password (the one given to you by your internet provider) under PPP. Click configure my connection. Save changes and then write to flash (both buttons on bottom of page)

SOURCE: no connection to internet

You need to do a reset to the router hold in the the rest buttons for 30 seconds. Then shut down the pc and try it again.

When it boots up see if there are any errors.
I also want you to go (command prompt) type cmd in the run box and type in just like this
ipconfig /all
see if an ip address comes up
then type in ipconfig /release
wait then type this
ipconfig /renew

Wait till it collects info then restart computer it should resolve after that its a communication error with the router and the pc.

Zoom X7n Dsl 2/2 Modem/router/gw DSL light will not stop blinking - trying to connect with Earthlink

Earthlink is not your local telephone company? You would need to contact your local service provider. If earthlink set up your DSL thru your local telephone company, you may have to have them contact them. Does your local phone to you or do you subscribe thru what they call a CLEC?

Why is my embarq 660 series DSL modem box's 1st

Telephone your Internet Service Provider, and have them check that you've paid your monthly fees, and that the DSL-modem at "their" end of your telephone-circuit has not failed.

Try a different DSL-modem, to see if your particular modem has "died".

Check the 2-strand or 4-strand wire from the DSL-modem to the wall-outlet, to make sure that it is properly connected.

Try a different 4-strand wire.

Assistance with blinking light on my DSL modem

First thing to do is unplug your DSL modem and leave it unplugged for about a minute then plug it back in and see if problem is corrected. If not you should contact your ISP tech support. You could have a bad line from the phone company or bad connection in your house. Also if you have filters installed on your other phones you can have a bad filter that is causing interference and keeping yoiur DSL from working properly. You should go to "Start" > "Run" and type cmd and hit "Enter"
In the command window type ping google.com -t (Enter) This will start a continual ping. If you are getting ping times exceeding 70 - 120 ms that could be a sign your DSL is not functioning properly or if you get packet loss. That is when the ping time doesn't return a time periodically.

DSL light flashing constantly

Hi,

I had the same problem to begin with. Here is what the Zoom helpdesk suggested:
"To force the dsl light to stop blinking, please follow these steps.

1) Open up your web browser and type 10.0.0.2 in the address bar. Type in the the username and password to log in to the modem.
username: admin
password: zoomadsl

2) When you get to the address bar, Click on advance setup.

3) Click on ADSL Configuration.

4) Change the standard to G.Dmt and change the activate line to Start.

5) Save changes and then write settings to flash.

Within a 1 or 2 minutes, the dsl light should go solid."

This worked for me. Good luck.

If they are charging you for the use of the westel, just tell them you don't need it. I would keep using your other modem that works.
