Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders
I have yamaha RXV 473 connected with HDMI 1.4 cable to panasonic plasma ST50 on HDMI 2 (ARC).Also reciever is connected with optical cable from TV. Problem is that i don't have OSD on screen.HDMI control is enabled both on tv and reciever and everything works ok except i dont have OSD on TV when i enter setup on yamaha.TV automaticly switch to HDMI 2 when i push setup button, but there is nothing except black screen. Do i miss something or i need to eneable some hiden options?
My guess is that the OSD function can only be enabled directly at the Panasonic TV.

SOURCE: RE: Denon AVR 3300 - I cannot get the system setup menu to display on Phillips P50PFP5332D tv screen? All connected components work and sound great, but I cannot see Denon's Setup menu on tv to a
I understand, it's something I've misunderstood on my denon avr-790 as well when connected to a samsung 8000 series led tv.
The answer isn't in the receiver's settings (you can be on whatever source you want on the receiver end when toggling the menu). You need to toggle through the tv's sources to find the menu (usually found on hdmi 1). I've spent towards an hour recently troubleshooting only to find that it was the tv's source that wasn't set properly and I was trying to change the receiver's settings instead of the tv's source.
Hope that helps!

Your OSD is created in the HDMI board. Since you already have had it replaced, the only thing I can think of is to replace your 2 plugs and your socket. This is the big cable that runs from your operation board to your main micro board. The original socket Onkyo used has bad insulation that over time can cause a varity of problems. For example some switches might stop working, the unit can freeze up, etc. These signals run through your main micro, which in turn tells your OSD chip when to activate. You can easily check to see if your socket is bad by unplugging it. If it is bad you will see residue on or in the connector, and it will have a bad smell to it. Good luck.
