Question about GPS

1 Answer

I have received a replacement "Tomtom Go 1005", as the previous units screen was blank and did not switch on. I purchased new live services in October 2013 for the replaced unit. The live services on the replacement unit has all expired (Expired 06.11.2013). How do I transfer the live services from the old device to the new device? (Old serial number SP5152G01870) (new serial number SP5152G00810)

You cannot transfer the accounts. That is how companies like that make money.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

It can be done with difficulty. I change them on a regular basis though as i run a repair business.

If you want me to change it I can do it for a small fee.

Has the tomtom go live 1000 have handsfree

I have a Go 1005 (Europe). Much to my surprise, it paired with my Nokia 5230 almost instantly and downloads/refreshes the phonebook each time I turn it on. That in itself is interesting because connection repeatedly failed with my previous Go730 and emails to TT and Nokia resulted in "Not our problem" replies from both companies (as usual leaving the paying customer up the creek with no paddle!).

Anyway, it works hands-free which means I can make/receive calls legally but despite setting the Go 1005 to display SMS text when it arrives, that does not work. The funny thing is I got the SMS to work (sometimes) on my old Go 730!

Tomtom one xl replacement screen

Your best bet is to purchase a non working unit from ebay with a good screen (ask if the unit has a good screen before bidding). I do this all the time. A new screen depending on your model will usually cost more than buying a new unit. Goggle changing the LCD screen on your model to learn how it is done. The tools you will need are not expensive. For most models you will need a # 8 and # 6 torx bit and a guitar pic to open the case.
Hope this helps

Memory Card

The DATA on your SD card has become corrupt or the SD card itself has become damaged / faulty. ..... Hopefully , some time back , you backed up your SD card to your computer ? . All you need do is format the card and then reload the files from your PC . If the tomtom still doesnt load up then you would need to purchase a NEW BLANK SD card and reload your backup onto it. If that doesnt solve your problem and if unfortunatly you didn't back up the original card then you will need to purchase a NEW TOMTOM SD card with activation code . Bad news and a learning process , always back up your tomtom card !

Contact TomTom. I had the same problem. Emailed customer support and they are sending me out a new unit. Not even asking me to send my unit to them first! how often does that happen....

I think it has to do with hooking up your unit via the usb cable to the computer. I got one from Radio Shack and it worked fine for a day, drove with it and shut it on and off a couple of times. Then I hooked it up to my emachine computer, and all I got was a white screen. Took it back got another one, drove with it, turned it on and off a couple of times, worked fine. Then I hooked it up to my computer, and again the same white screen until I reset it. I noticed all these posts are in the last few days, so I would say it is a bad batch of units. I purchased one for my wife 3 weeks ago and no such problem.

Blank screen

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.

If this doesn't help.

If its NEW take it back!

or
contact tomtom about the problem...

You cannot use a sd card from another tomtom. The sd card is coded for each individual device. About the only thing you can do is to purchase a 1 gb card (no larger because it won't be supported). Insert the blank card into your unit and connect it to your pc. Go to my computer and see which drive the tt is. format the card and then open tomtom home. This will load your operating system back onto your card. I don't know if you can download a free map or not. Check the tomtom forums for more information concerning maps.
Hope this helps
