Was connecting subs to speaker connections when it popped, turned off and will not turn back on...VSX-518-k

You probably blew a fuse. It should be marked on the back next to where it tells you to turn the power off before connecting speakers.

Good Luck,
Gil

I have a LG LHY 518 system and the subwoofer doesnt work. Can I replace it with any LG subwoofer?, or do I need a certain kind of LG subwoofer.

I'd lurk on eBay or other auction sites and see if one becomes available.

Take a clue from that non-standard system cable between the electronics and the sub. It powers the sub's amplifiers and carries signals. Wanna take a chance on the pin-assignments being consistent across all product lines?

My SW 22HT Kenwood subwoofer stopped working. The fuse was bad it was replaced and the new fuse blew again

The reason the fuse blew again is that an overload has occured. It could be a faulty part in either the power supply section, or the amp section. Follow the curcuit from the fuse, be on the look out for damaged, burnt parts, suspect anything on a heat sink.

Unit blew the internal fuse. SONY SA-WMS367 SUB-WOOFER

Bad output IC or voltage rectifier are the most likely at fault.

My basslink worked great, son blew fuse, replaced, now sounds lik

If the speaker has been overdriven, it may have damaged the cone surround or damaged the speaker coil, causing it to 'rub' inside the magnet. To check for rubbing, you need to move the speaker cone backwards and forwards by hand and listen where the speaker coil/cone goes into the magnet. It should be silent if ok. If you can heara rubbing or grating noise, then the speaker is damaged. If the output driver on the amp is damaged it can give a distorted sound, which could easily happen if it tries to provide too much current.

Subwoofer eating fuses.

Check the circiut board for any blown capacitors. Sometimes it's that simple as replacing a capacitor. But then again, what is causing the capacitor to blow??/ Hope this helps.
