Question about Philips Magnavox TS3260C 32" TV

1 Answer

Nothing but snow

I've had this TV for a while, but it has always worked like a dream. I recently moved and the TV was working great before I unhooked everything for the move. After loading and securing it in a van and getting it to the new location, it doesn't work anymore. I get nothing but snow when hooked up to my Dish Network receiver, VCR, and Tivo. In case you're thinking it's not hooked up correctly, a different TV works fine when hooked up to the same setup. What would cause a TV to act normal, but only have snow on the screen?

Re: nothing but snow

Your explanation about a different TV receiver working OK on the same aerial connections leads me to believe you have lost the tuning in the faulty receiver...
Just "snow" with no sound is a classic response for lost tuning....
It shouldnt have lost the tuning as there is a small battery(capacitor) that holds the previous receiver channel settings when you turn the TV off. But as you have had the Receiver in the back of a truck and disconnected from the power supply for some time then this is probably the culprit....
This battery (Capacitor) may be getting old and has lost its capability of sending a minute amount of current to the tuner IC (Chip) hold your previous channel settings...So if you can retune the receiver to the output from the Dish Network Receiver you should be fine again, but if the battery is shot you need a new one....or just leave the Receiver in the standby mode for a couple of days to re-charge the battery (capacitor) up.
You will need a service technician to replace this small battery (capacitor) its a special type made just for your receiver....
Hope this helps

Cant get my 14" Craig TV to work anymore.

Check the connection at the back of the TV. During moving, any of them might got loose. Check it. As the TV has snow and hissing sound, there is no fault with it. The fault must be to the cable or antenna connections.

GE GUIDE PLUS television coaxial cable

Contact the cable provider to know about the signal type they are transiting by it. If it is digital type, you must ahve a set top box to convert it to analogue signals, which your TV can process. It sounds so.

Hi my name is jeremy snow and i have recently had problems with my sony trinitron xbr 1997. lately the picture like scrunches up into the top of the screen and the tv just goes black and now like sometimes...

You have two problems. Dry joints causing the no picture and capacitors causing the frame cramping.
A 680uF 35Volt capacitor will fix the frame cramping and re soldering underneath almost everywhere will solve the intermittant picture fault.

No picture 2 days ago power went out thru out the neighborhood, once power came back TV worked great. today, go to power on TV, here it clicking, but no picture... cable box working, cable working in 2nd...

It sounds like there`s a sort on the secondaries of the power supply. Before the power went off, did you ever turn the tv off by unplugging it?? In other words, did you turn the power off completely to the set or leaving it in standby?? if you always left it in stby, it will be the capacitors in the power supply, they dry out if the power is always on, so they will need replacing. If you did turn off the power, then I think you`ll find that the power cut had nothing to do with the fault you`ve got now, it will be the Line Output Stage which has failed or gone short circuit.
