i think my turntable is doing the same.. so if you could walk me thru it that would be ill... basically i kno alot about turntables.. cd and vinyl so i know how this should work.. so its not like i didnt flip the right switch lol.. whats happening is.. my turntable powers up fine.. loads the cd and even plays.. but when i sskratch it back and forth a bit it slows the platter down.. at first i figured it had something to do with my slipmat so i made the slipmat super slippery and it still does it.. theres basically no friction.. so i took the platter top off and notice that when the platter is off the spindle spins.. it like grinds.. best way i could describe it is like stop motion animation.. or like a clock hand ticking.. it dosent move smooth.. but when i put the platter back on it moves smooth again.. im not sure if thats what causing this or thats normal.. if im not mistakin my ttx i think did tha same.. but it also has like a bit of a burning plastic smell to it too.. i think somethin inside is grinding maybe.. i juss dont wanna mess it up taking it all the way apart.. any ideas?

What exactly do you mean put into vinyl mode? Do you mean only when the motor is turned on? Just curious, because this will narrow your symptoms. If your motor is on and playing slow or not at right speed, there is two possibilities, ONE: you need a new motor PCB, TWO: you need a secondary controller PCB. I could walk you thru how to check, upper and lower halfs of the CDX come apart.

Well hope fully its something small. check your pitch control first make sure its not set at a slow speed. then check your start stop knobs at the bottom of the table. roll them one way then start it see if that works, then the other way... if its not that then its possibly its a malfunction ,, Numark with there new awesome products but sometimes faulty that turntable wigs out goin slow then normal then slow ect... If its less then a year send it in it is coverd by warrantee

I have a LP60 USB and theres a burning smell coming from the platter?

You mean while playing a record?.... I shall tell you a secret, eveytime you needle plays a record, it melts the vinyl a bit , just like that you can ice skate and melt the ice through the pressure.
But if you smell your vinyl then your needle is installed very wrong.
And needs to be replaced.

Pls read this

if you smell your platter, without playing a song , you have to watch if. it spins at normal speed without variation, then you can remove the platter and give your bearing one drup oil. But that ain't the problem.

you have to smell the motorunit, since it's a cheap turntable and ain't having good components, but start with following that link i gave you and you only have a motor with some electronics , a belt
and a bearing with a platter and in your case a builtin usb and phono-amplifier which are useless, because the quality is way too low. not much can go broke.

Stantonst.150 turntable platter spins unevenly

Well, you have the rotor, which has above the conus where you put your platter on. But the rotor needs to be kept in space, so it can spin,
which offcourse in the is done by (too soft) bearings, but the bottom of the the rotor(which looks the same as the 'pin' where you put you vinyl on, just leans on a piece of metal, instead of a technics where it falls in a shaft too keep it is place.
You undestnd that the strength on the bearings of a st150 is much higher, especially when scratching. Besides that, the high torque works 0,2 sec and then an optocoupler samples the speed of the rotor. And it's easy:on the underside of the rotor ,there's a plastic round disc puled over the rotor and kept on his place by a plate and 3 screws, with on the outside just

Crosley CR249 warped table

Sounds like you need a new platter. Has the platter worked OK before or has it always been like this?
I suspect you might have to contact Crosley to see who supplies parts.

My Thorens TD150 MK2 Phono Turntable Motor will not run or spin with the belt on but will turn without the belt on.What is wrong.

If you can turn the platter easily by hand, then so should the motor. You can also disconect the power leads to the motor and hook up a PP9 9 volt battery to it. If it\'s slow and easily stopped from rotating then there\'s nothing wrong with the power to the motor and the motor is bad!

My Pioneer CDJ 800 MK 2 - will not play in the vinyl mode, the cue button is flashing _ if i take it out of vinyl mode it will play fine , do i need to reset it?

Does the unit play in vinyl mode if you turn the platter by hand?. If this the case the commom fault in the "sheet switch" which is under the platter and sensors the pressure when you press the platter.

The "sheet switch" and it is a circular plastic "sandwich" of multiple contacts and when constant pressure is put on it (i.e something is sat on it for a long time), it tends to stick together giving the effect you are pressing it when you're not.
The part will cost you about £30.00 + fitting - unless you are confident enough to do it yourself

email me if you would like to order one.

CD Mode does not react in the same manner as as Vinyl mode when you try to back spin. At the very least, you will only be able to go back a few bars. It's mainly used to set the Cue properly.

If you want it to back spin, you'll have to use the Vinyl mode.

Wrong disk

I looked at everybody's ideas, and none of the ideas seemed to fit my situation. My DVD player has been working fine for one month. I got a new DVD today in the mail. It froze, and then began to display the WRONG DISK message. Then, nothing would play on the player, All of the DVDs that had worked fine before, now would not play. They all said WRONG DISK. I tried reaching under and trying to clean the laser lens, but that did not fix the problem. I am not saying that this will fix your problem, but this is what fixed mine.

1. Place the DVD player on a table

2. Plug in the DVD player.

3.Push the OPEN button so that the DVD platter extends outside of the player (It now looks like it does when it is ready for you to put a DVD in it to play it.)

4. Unplug the DVD player. (Now the power is off, and the platter is still extended.

5. Remove the cover of the DVD player being careful not to damage the extended platter.

NOTE: With the platter extended, looking slightly from the rear, under where the DVD is spun, you will be able to see the Laser lens. It will be covered by the mechanism that spins the DVD. The lens will be connected to a mechanism that that has two rails on either side.

6. Grasp the plastic surrounding of the laser lens area and pull the entire mechanism toward the rear of the DVD player.

CAREFUL: DO NOT YANK THE MECHANISM BACKWARDS as this will break off the laser unit. This mechanism is being moved with the resistance of many gears. PULL SLOWLY AND FIRMLY, and the entire mechanism will move on the rails until the laser unit is clearly visible to you and completely from under the spinning mechanism.

7. Since the lens was clearly visible now, and easily accessable, I carefully and lightly cleaned the lens with a Qtip and alcohol.

8. Replace the cover on the DVD player

9. Place a DVD on the platter.

10. Plug in the DVD player

You will find that you no longer get the WRONG DISK message and your DVDs will now play properly. As I said, just reaching under and cleaning the laser lens did not seem to fix the problem. It was only when I moved the entire laser unit from under the spinning mechanism, and forced the DVD player to realign itself when it powered on, did the DVDs begin to play again.

Platter quit spinning

Sounds like the motor drive controller might be malfunctioning. An authorized Denon service center would have to take a look at it to make sure.

Pioneer CDJ-800 Vinyl Mode Broken

This is a common issue. There is a faulty switch on the CDJ800s, which needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix, and will need to be serviced by a professional.

If your unit is under warranty, I suggest sending it off to Pioneer for repair. If you cannot find anyone locally, our company offers nationwide service.
