First, download the latest driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=1637 by selecting your operating system. After downloading run the setup and follow all instructions. Typically these issues are just a driver problem.
Please let me know if this solves your problem.
Thanks,
Adam

You first need to establish that you have internet available to your router via cable modem, dsl, etc. Unless your modem is also your wireless router. Take your ethernet connection or cable that resembles a large phone cable and plug in your Acer One directly into the router. You should then be able to get internet. If not, you may have a problem with your internet in general and need to contact your Internet Service Provider. Also if possible try another pc, see if it has internet. Lastly try reinstalling wireless diver in device manager.

Most Acers use an IPN2220 Wireless card. If yours does, you use XP and your router is using WPA or WPA2 (TKIP or AES) security then you'll need to update the driver by searching for it manually using the Custom button (Hardware) in Windows update (instead of Express). This driver is not part of XP service pack 2 or 3. In my experience if you don't update to the newest common form of home wireless security (WPA2 AES) then the older formats seem to become unreliable in the way you discribe
