Question about Freezers
My kenmore freezer drawer is frozen shut. This is due to a faulty ice maker that caused it to overflow and freeze the glide rails. I know because it happened before. I was able to get the door open that time by force and thawed the freezer. This time it is not budging. I've directed a space heater for 12 hours at the outside wall on the side of the ice maker. No go. I've unplugged it and let it sit for 8 hours. Still won't move. Now I've kept it unplugged and added the space heater again. Still frozen. All the posted on line help explains what to do after it's opened. But I just need advice on how to get it open. Tools, methods, anything. It's a Kenmore bottom freezer.
Use your wife's electric handheld hair dryer as close to the rails as you can once slightly open you can use table salt/ice melt to free the drawer or; turn up your house thermostat to about 80 degrees for the day while you are at work; the drawer should be free by the time you get home.

SOURCE: Kenmore ice maker problem
the problem is an unlevel icemaker to prove this do you see little droplets of water freezing from the icemaker or a remote possibilty is do you have to an R/O system and have you change the filter if unit has one.

You can buy a kit from whirlpool. In the kit is a metal tab that mounts onto the defrost heater. It is long enough to go into the hole. When the heater comes on for defrost the heat transfers down to the hole and keeps it from getting plugged up with ice. Part number 819043
