SOURCE: frigidaire washing machine no spin cycle

I had the same problem with my Frigidaire Affinity front load washer. It would go through the wash cycle but would not do the final spin cycle that takes the access water out of the clothes. It would actually cut off when it got to be 6 minutes left. I checked the hoses, belt, motor and pump but all were functioning properly. I even cleaned out the filter thats located in front of the water pump. It was full of coins and other debris but it still didnt fix the problem. I called the repairman and he concluded that the control board was bad and would have to be relaced. The board is $200 and labor $140. It will cost you $340 dollars to correct this problem unless you know how to replace the control board yourself. Only had the washer for 3 years. I wouldnt expect something like that to occur within that short period of time.

Sounds like a mother board problem. If you're handy, take the panel off and reseat all connectors. Don't forget to unplug the machine first.

We have an Ultima washing machine and creases the cloths very badly any suggestions please

The amount of creasing you will get is directly related to the speed you select for the final spin dry cycle and the spin after the first wash cycle which occurs prior to the rinse cycle. The higher the speed and the longer it goes for the more the clothes will crease.

Experiment with different spin speeds on your machine for clothing that is subject to the creasing problem. Also do not put too many items in the machine for a wash as many people do as this will contribute to creasing. Always under load your machine for every wash cycle.

Spin drying is a compromise between creasing and maximum water removal. If you want less creasing you will need to select a more gentle spin dry speed but you will also have the clothes coming out of the machine with a higher water content and they will take a bit longer to dry. The spin time on the program may also be shorter.

In my own machines I use a gentle wash and spin cycle for all clothing that I don't want heavily creased. Running it on a wash cycle with a high and longer spin speed when the machine is spinning the clothes after the initial wash, and then again after the final rinse, will thoroughly crease the clothes every time.

Also bear in mind that different fabrics that are suitable for machine washing will perform differently and some are just too subject to creasing even if you use the most gentle wash, rinse and spin cycle. Hence you can take 2 different 100% cotton fabrics out of a machine and hang them to dry and one will be almost crease free and the other will be thoroughly creased. With these fabrics that are just very subject to wash creasing, it is better to hand wash and rinse them. Then after rinsing drip dry them or put them in the machine and spin them for 1 -2 minutes maximum just to get some of the water out and hang dry them.

Hi .have a tricity bendix 1000rpm.. seems to take ages to wash.. what is the timing on a 40 degree wash and a quick cycle

In the early days of Automatic washing machines, manufacturers endeavoured to get the machines to wash rinse and spin as quickly as washing could be done in a twin tub. However the results weren't always good. These days as they don't have to compete with the twin tubs the emphasis is on clothes care and energy saving. so the wash cycle is prolonged without a lot of bashing about and because wash temperatures are very low they need a bit longer in the tub action to achieve the results. Its the heating that costs the money not the tub action. nearly all machines will take up to an hour and a half or longer to wash properly. So you need to change your wash habits to accommodate a long wash time, don't try and do two or three loads in the same day, spread them out over a couple of days. If you are tempted to buy one of the Machines that purport to do washes in half an hour be aware this only applies to items that need freshening up and not normal everyday soiled clothes.

My washing fills and drains properly, but will not agitate or run the spin cycle. I sounds like it is going through the cycle properly, but will not turn the drum (spin cycle) or agitator.

Try picking a different wash cycle, instead of your annual quick wash cycle opt for the longer wash cycle and then you may find that the spin cycle may kick-in, hope this works for you, good luck!

My Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW top load washer only runs for the first few minutes of the cycle, it will not spin..it just stops..we've tried two cycles, the quick wash...it starts at 33 mins and then stops...

I'm and owner and will try to help. Are you handy and do you want to try a DIY fix?

From the wash times is sounds like the washer is agitating the wash load (tumblers are rotating the wash basket load) is that correct?

If so see if the machine will complete a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket. Set the Spin setting to Spin/Hang dry seting and start the cycle. It should take about 10 min complete. Does the Spin Only cycle complete with no clothes in the wash basket?

Some handy links if you are going to DIY.........Service Manual for reference.

Why does it take over 2 hours to wash a normal load, is there a manual for this machine

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} I don’t know what machine you have but the newer energy efficient machines do take far longer to complete a wash because they are basically cold fill. Part of the wash cycle is incorporated in the heating stage. Companies are all striving for the prestigious ‘A’ rating on Energy, Wash and spin, but in doing so have to increase the wash time. Sounds wrong it’s how it works! If you need a free user hand book then click on user manual and select your manufacturer.

My bosch front loading washer on the small cycles will not spin the water out of the clothes..why?

Does it sound like the machine is spinning as fast as on longer cycles? Some machines run a slower spin speed on small cycles which can leave clothes wetter than normal. I've got this on mine and all I do is when the wash has finished I change over to the fast spin only program which then takes it to it's highest spin speed.

Washer not finishing it's rinse/spin cycle

Run any load - large or the least bit bulky (like sheets) on the "BULKY" cycle. It takes longer, but the machine completes the wash. This shouldn't be the way it works. I love the Neptune TL for its retro look and lack of Maytag's classic big cranky knob. Too bad it runs like ****.
