Brush bar does not rotate. No blockages, clean filter

Hi Antoinette, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44's brush bar won't rotate, it sounds like we may need to talk you though some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand. This will help us determine if there's an issue with the motorised floor tool itself, or with the wand or main body.

If a replacement part is needed, we should also be able to confirm whether this is covered under our free 2-year parts and labour guarantee.

When convenient, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

We'll look forward to speaking with you!

Loss of suction virtually overnight

HiJulie

You can find the manual for the DC-44 here
https://www.dyson.co.uk/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/UK/floorcare/Manuals/DC44_Animal_Manual.pdf
Losing suction pretty much overnight is most likely due to a blockage in the system somewhere. Things like small wads of crumpled paper can transform into amazingly strong blockage of structures one they get into a hose or tube.

The manual doesn't go into much detail on clearing blockages, so I'll summarize it as
  1. take apart all the parts that unclip from each other. Look through where you can, remove debris you find.
  2. Most of the eyeball directions to cover are on page 4 of the PDF.
  3. If you see a blockage that won't cooperate and shake out, I favor a wire coat hanger bent into marshmallow-roaster shape, with the hook bent into a straight point with a small half-circle hook at the end (needle nose pliers work well here) Snake the wire down the tube to the obstruction and see if you can either push it, or hook the wire loop in and pull it out.

    Hoping this helps!
    Good Luck
    D

Keeps stopping even though I have taken it apart and checked for blockages. +

Are you sure your wall charger is working ok? You might just have a bad battery pack in the sweeper if your charger is working. Do you have a friend who knows electronics and has a voltmeter?

If so, have them check the voltage output of the charger at the plug that goes into the sweeper. Verify that the charger is indeed working ok. Then you will need to check the voltage on the battery pack inside the sweeper to see if your battery is good and holding a charge. A mechanical blockage could be something caught in the vacuum fan blade. You should be able to hold the main part of the sweeper up to your ear so you can hear and then pull the sweeper trigger and see if you can hear the motor try to start. Nothing happening may mean a dead battery pack. Regards, Dennis

Switch not working on dyson 44

We have had to return 2 of the same units and are on our 3rd one. So as far as I know they can't be fixed. They took it back no questions except of course, why I was returning it.

Why won't my Dyson DC44 rechargeable vacuum brush attachment not work or pick up anything?

Hi Kim, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44's motorised cleaner head doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, it sounds as if there is a blockage somewhere. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/removing-blockages-from-the-power-floor-tool

The video I've attached should also help you check for and remove any threads, hair or debris caught around the brush bar.

If you'd like further help after you've given this a try, please get in touch with us directly so our experts can talk you through some additional troubleshooting checks. You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My Dyson dc 18 slim extender wand has NO suction. There is a plastic white cylinder object blocking.

If the floor head has suction and the wand does not, or vice-versa, the white cylinder you are referring to diverts the suction between the floor head and wand. If the flimsy plastic switch used to turn the cylinder is broken, you may need a new under carriage or just set the cylinder to wand or floor manually and use it as a one dimension cleaner. Depending on your ability, perhaps the switch can be purchases and replaced by a DIYer, but the job looks moderately difficult.
