My revoshift is functioning properly. Any suggestions for correction?

The reason its rotating out is because there is slack in the cable. To tighten the cable put shifter in lowest gear and chain on smallest chainring, Loosen derailler bolt, with a pliers pull slack out of the cable. Be careful not to pull so hard that you move derailer to next chainring. If you are unsure of this operation, consult your local bike shop.

Tips on installing the 7 speed revoshift sis shifter

Obviously, you must remove old shifter. With old cable removed, make sure you derailleur is on the smallest gear (7). String cable through cable housing, checking to see if there is any tight spots. The tight spots are places in the housing where the cable doesn't move freely. These are rust or bad spots in the housing, If you have a bit of problem, put some oil in the housing work it back and forth. If you have several problems consider replacing housing.
Now back to the installation, you gave the cable through the housing, set shifter on 7 or highest gear. Simply tighten cable at the derailleur. Tighten the derauiluer cable bolt. Check your work by running through the gears, if shifter doesn't shift thru all gears, check for slack in the cable. If slack, redo the operation again. If you continue to have problem, consider your local bike shop for assistance.

Does not operate in reverse

If the vehicle will not go in reverse, but works in both low and high forward speeds you most likely have a bad shifter switch.

The shifter switch is only available in a shifter assembly found here: http://www.mendingshed.com/j4390-9209.html

Replacing the shifter should get your Power Wheels running correctly.

http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help will describe some of the techniques and tools required (they sell tools).

Since you'll need to go to a bike shop to buy the right shifter and brake cables anyway you should have them show you some of the fine points and ask about the special tools (cable cutter, for example) required. You may find that unless you intend to become a regular self-service bicycle mechanic the cost of equipping for that is prohibitively expensive and the occasional paid repair or tune-up would be worthwhile. In fact, a tune-up would address your problem and others of which you may be unaware.

Install Shimano revoshift. bike came with shift cable not attached. how do I attach it? thanks, barry lentz

Front or rear? Is the cable not in the shifter?
If the cable is not in the shifter, there will be a screw in the shifter (made of plastic, usually black) facing outward. You open this and shift the shifter into the highest gear, then slip the cable through and out the side that accepts the cable sleeve. Then you run it through the sleeve and to its appropriate derailleur (left hand=front, right hand=rear).
