My Zune HD 16 gig MP3 won't get recognized by my computer. I've plugged it into all four of the USB ports on my computer and my Dad's computer and it still hasn't worked. The Zune is instead replaced by a...

Ok this is either a usb hardware problem, a cable problem, or a zune problem.

Basically to find out which you need to do a process of elimination. plug in the zune and when it fails then unplug it and plug a different device into the cable (preferable as this eliminates cable and usb as probelm in one go) or into the usb port. Next is try a differant cable. And finally try the zune on a different computer. If the zune isn't recognized on a different computer it could be the cable or zune. Try a differant cable again.

Usually the most common problem is the device followed by the cable. Unfortunately the only reliable fix is to replace which ever is the problem. The cable ends sometimes get damaged or loose and you don;t get a good connection. Sometimes you can check this with a quick wiggle on the ends. If it suddenly gets recognized then the cable is the problem. If its the device there really isn;t anything you can do but replace it.

Greetings....

Please try to check if your USB port both rear and front USB port are not defective. Most common problem of defective usb ports are when plug your usb devices it won't recognize the device you inserted. So to make sure that your USB Ports are not the main cause why your computer won't recognize devices you inserted.

Usb device not recognized when i plug in my zune

Turn off the CPU pull off the power cable, unplug all usb cables, Let it sit for about 15 mins. Plug it back in start the CPU plug in your device. This will reset the motherboard, as just turning off CPU the motherboard still has power. If still does not work, you can either re-do windows, or get a USB/PCI Port Card, thatll have like 5 usb ports on it. And try that.

You might need to reinstall the drivers, or update your USB port drivers.
A nice zune troubleshooting guide on this is available on fixing zune device errors.

Zune Player

Hold down the back and up buttons on your Zune until the screen goes black. You should see your Zune reset. If you have your Zune connected to your PC during this, you will see that Windows will immediately recognize the device.

I have a brand new Zune 8 GB player, given as a gift. I downloaded the Zune Software, but when I connect the player by the USB cable, the Zune program does not recognize a Zune as being connected. Also,...

Try this....
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.

Hope this helps

ALL YOUR BASE BELONG TO US - is a video that must have been loaded on the Zune previously.

if all else fails...

If you connected the ZUNE to your computer before installing the software the computer may have installed it as a different device.

Go to Control Panel - then System - Device Manager. Plug in ZUNE player and see if any new devices show as being connected. BE CAREFUL IN DEVICE MANAGER THOUGH, IF YOU UNINSTALL THE WRONG ITEM, IT COULD MESS YOUR COMPUTER UP.

If this works rate it a FIX-YA!
