I replaced a CD-Rom with an HP dvd1040i 20x multiformat dvd writer to my HP 522 desktop and the software that came with it--Nero 7 essentials. If I put a CD in the burner to play, there is sound. If I put a DVD in the burner, the DVD will play but there is no sound. Any ideas on why the sound does not work.

-   I have the same problem except I wasn't replacing an old player, but adding this hardware to the system. I also have a cd player/burner already installed. Cd works fine in hp product and dvd plays visual but no sound. Please help.-   tigerb8
