I've had the same problem occasionally when re-installing. There are a couple of ways to solve this.
1- Right click properties on "my computer" (or open "system" in control panel). Bring up the Hardware tab. Click on "device manager" button, then scroll down to see if there are any devices with a yellow exclamation point. if one is "scan" then the windows did not yet install it. (This can happen if windows installed the print drivers automatically before you actually installed your printer driver. Remember that even if the printer is turned off, it will still be recognized by Windows unless you disconnect the usb cord). Solution: delete the highlighted button. Then restart your computer. If you have already run the dell installation disks, windows should recognize and install the software. Be sure to have your disk inserted in the cd drive when you restart. Otherwise:
2- use your dell installtion disks to uninstall, then re-install. Hope it helps. :)
